Here's the funny thing about Donald Trump - he really is a liberal
The guy is pro-choice (says government should not have any business with Abortion)

He's touted universal healthcare including praising Canada's health system

He's pro-gay rights.

I mean let's just say he gets the nomination and god forbid he wins. The republicans will shit themselves.

Of course he won't get nominated

1. Sometimes I think his antics are purposeful to destroy the Republican Party.
Edited on Tue Apr-19-11 03:09 PM by cleanhippie
This birther stuff makes me think he is intentionally trying to get the wingnuts, including Palin and Bachman, et al, to jump on that bandwagon simply so he can fully expose them.

4. Maybe he's sick of them too.
That would be a kick in their pants, wouldn't it?

29. I'm with you. What better way to put a spotlight on the teabagger madness than to
pretend you're one of them, highlighting the most ridiculous of the baggers' half-baked claims?

I've seen every season of "The Apprentice" & from what I've seen, Trump has a keen sense about people, he's astute & very smart, he knows marketing, he's not a racist, & he's a big philanthropist.

He's not running for president, but using the public's (& media's) assumption that he is running to demonstrate how nutty the baggers' are. I can imagine hearing him talk about the baggers in private: "Those people are nutcases. And no one is calling them out -- of course, the media can't since they're in the same corporate fraternity as the baggers, so what if someone ran for president in the guise of being on their side, but taking the most outrageous of their nutty ideas & making it such a spectacle that the people will eventually catch on to how really stupid it is.". And Trump has the balls to do just that.

3. I agree - there is definitely more to the story here.
I have to admit that I like that the Repubes fall for it "hook line and sinker" but I also am worried about Trump's true motivation here. Just publicity for his reality show? To prove the Repubes are hypocrites? I guess we'll just have to wait and see, but I'm with you - I've always thought of him to be a liberal.

7. He has also advocated paying for the deficit by taxing the wealthy.
I really don't understand his angle at all.

I don't know if he is (likely) a fraud, opportunist who has no real principles and doesn't mean anything hes ever said or if he is really pulling the greatest scam in all of history (wink wink) just to make a point about the kind of base this "modern" Republican party has.

8. He's a perennial "candidate"
that tends to pull this shit every time he has some more idiotic shit to shill to people. My bet is that this time around it's going to be a new contract of Celebrity Apprentice.

The thing about this circus that pisses me off more than the asshole himself are the assholes giving him unlimited air-time to hock his shit for free.

I'm willing to put money down that says that he reluctantly decides that he will not run for President because his "loyal fans" aka "moronic suckers" really need to see another season of Celebrity Apprentice.

When do they have to stop calling it Celebrity Apprentice? I hardly know most of the losers he has on there now.

10. No he isn't. He is whatever he thinks will garner him the most
support at the time.

I have met the man on a few occasions and have had to endure "speaking engagements" by him. The man is worse than anyone thinks. He's soulless. There is nothing there. Every thought, every move, everything this man does revolves around money. It is literally his god.

This is a man who used his influence try to get the government to have a woman's house condemned under the Eminent Domain laws so he could build a parking lot where her house stood.

There is nothing there. Nothing.

22. He did say that
Although he basically dodged the question. He more or less said 'we have more important things to worry about.' From what I can tell, his public position on gay marriage is similar to that of many Democrats.

but had no problems with the civil union stuff.

Like Trump has given a good name to the term marriage

16. I saw a bit of an interview this morning where he said he was anti-abortion
Actually I think he said pro-life, but it's his spin against mine

It might have been an interview with MANBC's Samantha. Whoever it was countered back to him "so you don't believe in a woman's right to privacy?" and he went of on "what's privacy got to do with it.... Guess he didn't know that's what the Roe vs Wade case was based on
