Greg Mitchell reports, Bradley Manning is being moved.
Edited on Tue Apr-19-11 04:01 PM by EFerrari
3:45 AP has scoop: "U.S. officials say the Army private suspected of giving classified data to WikiLeaks is being moved to Fort Leavenworth in Kansas in the wake of international criticism about his treatment during his detention at the Marine Corps base at Quantico, Va. The officials say an announcement that Army Pfc. Bradley Manning will be moved is expected Wednesday at the Pentagon. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the move has not yet been made public.

"Amnesty International has said Manning's treatment may violate his human rights. A committee of Germany's parliament has also protested about his treatment to the White House. Manning is being held in maximum security in a single-occupancy cell at Quantico, and he is allowed to wear only a suicide-proof smock to bed each night." See my Manning book for full background.

1. Are they actually planning to every try him in court?
Or is this going to be his whole life now?

3. Why?
Now they even look more guilty of commiting crimes against someone that STILL has had no trial or conviction.

11. The father was asked how his son was doing and dad stated he was
doing well. This is the second or third time the father was asked and has denied that Manning was suffering in any way. I'll try and find the link. I thought I saw a post about it early today on DU..

12. Well, that was a skewed report.
What happened was his dad broke his silence to go out into the press and protest his son's treatment.

9. His support network sees this as a negative.
#Bradley's move to Kansas will limit access to attorney, family and friends. No guarantee of better treatment. #wikileaks

17. VFP, IVAW, and MFSO will be there to support Manning
Many of the Veterans who repeatedly went to Quantico and who repeatedly went to their legislature's offices and who wrote and called those in charge at Quantico are members of Veterans for Peace.
that includes Daniel Ellsburg, and ret.Col Ann Wright.

Veterans for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War, Military Families Speak Out and other Veterans Groups have been a very strong force of speaking out and they will continue.
