All they do is LIE about Planned Parenthood. |
|
No federal funds from the grants PP receives, can be used for abortion, and abortion constitutes only 3% of PP's services. So why PP? Contraception? A convenient target for the anti-choicers? Representative of dem policies and political stances?
If they can, they'll destroy PP and the access to the only health care many women have, just like they destroyed ACORN- with lies and more damned lies- and if they get a majority in the Senate next year and a repuke president, it will happen.

1. Because they know most Americans are sheep |
|
They know that most Americans are mostly politically inactive except during voting. The rest of the time they sit and listen to stenographers (read: lazy journalists) for news and politics.

2. They lie about pretty much everything. |
|
PP is just their latest librul boogeyman. They need to have their boogeymen, because fear is their main source of power. Fearful people are compliant people. See: 9/11, the Patriot Act, and all of the other anti-American legislation and anti-Muslim bigotry it produced. They are nothing without the lies and fear-mongering. It's sad and disgusting that so many people buy into it.

5. They lie on purpose... |
|
...it's how they catapult the propaganda. The purpose of the lie (in the case of PP) is to plant a seed of distaste into the people's brains, an emotional revulsion that will not be susceptible to rational argument. Thus, saying that 90% of what PP does is abortions, plants the seed, and is forever associated with the organization, regardless of what the facts are. So anyone coming along later and correcting the record is fighting an uphill battle in terms of winning the emotional argument.
They use the same technique with so many issues and organizations. It's just part of what they do. I've spent years wondering how they can tell so many bald faced lies, and why they would do so. But it makes sense if you realize they are knowingly planting little emotional seeds, and you can see that it works very well for them in a political sense: it allows them to destroy organizations they don't like, and to perpetuate divisive issues. PP is a convenient stand-in for abortion, one of their very favorite wedge issues.
Now as to why they want to destroy PP? It is seen as a liberal organization. It helps poor people, not Republicans (because as we all know, Republicans are never poor... oh wait). Now that there's no Acorn to kick around, they need another national group to use for the same purpose, helping them to divide people. To hell with any good that PP does, what do they care? They're certainly happy to destroy Medicare and Medicaid, which are used by their own followers en masse. They really, really, really don't want people to get any help with health care. Less profits for the big medical outfits, I guess.

6. Spot-on. Well written. Thanks. They lie to create "an emotional revulsion" |
|
Even when we come back and say that it's only 3%, the revulsion remains. 3% is too much.
I had luck countering with that 97% stops abortions from happening in the first place fighting abortion numbers with abortion numbers.
I just had not put a word phrase to the concept.
Thanks.
