Dairy's Dark Side has replaced the Shocking Meat Video
For some reason I don't think the change in Ad is going to please many.

The graphic is worse...I think

I guess be careful what you ask for sometime huh?

1. Gimmie a milkshake, baby.
Didn't watch. Don't care.
Cattle are a renewable, harvestable resource. and its their fault for tasting good.

9. I suggest you watch it and then tell me how much you don't care...
...there are humane ways to deal with cattle, and there are inhumane ways...I'm not sure which bothers me more the fact that you didn't watch it and are blithely okay with it, or that you think that way at all...

I am a meat eater, so yes, I understand animals have to die in order for me to eat them, but that doesn't make me cruel or callous...or mean that I have to ignore when other beings are being treated inhumanely...

Watch it, then tell me it's their fault for tasting good...

16. That's quite a rational response to a complex moral problem.
So...expect to be pilloried. ;)

22. No. I'm not going to waste my time.
Cows are slaves of man. We eat them. They exist to serve my needs.
Milk. Cheese. Beef. As long as it tastes good, I don't care if they get branded with red hot irons.
Its their fault for being born a cow.

All this effort to gross me out, or make me feel guilty is ultimately wasted.
I fish. I hunt. I harvest animals too. Been there, done that. I don't care.

Guess what? an animal dies for my every meal. Jimmy crack corn and I don't care.

23. When you hunt do you deliberately choose the most painful way for the animal to die?
Edited on Thu Apr-21-11 09:30 AM by truebrit71
Do you deliberately mis-treat the animals before they die?

"It's their fault for being born a cow"..?? are you suggesting they had a choice to be born as a pony instead? Or should we infer that you choose to be born as an un-feeling, un-sympathetic asshole?

You know this is a LIBERAL website right? Are you sure you're in the right place?

No-one argues that animals have to die in order for people to have hamburgers. They just don't have to SUFFER in order for that to happen.

The fact that you don't give a shit speaks volumes about you and your values.

7. What gets me is people who go out of their way to be offended
If you click on the link, knowing full well what to expect, and then post about how disgusting it is.

Reminds me of the time about 35 years ago when the Crisis Intervention Center I was with had a retreat out at Lake Travis. We caught a bunch of flack from people who complained about the naked, pot-smoking hippies out there. These complainers were over a quarter mile away looking at us through binoculars.

12. don't click on the ad if you don't want to see it.
That's the point I was making. you already know what the ad is about so if you watch and then bitch about how disgusting, etc. I'm not giving any sympathy.

13. You are missing the point...
..being disgusted about naked hippies smoking dope is not equal to defenseless animals being beaten to death...

I don't need your sympathy, maybe the victims of the brutality would be better recipients..

14. Going out of your way to be offended is the point.
I've probably seen more animals slaughtered and cut up than most people have. It's messy in more ways than one.

I've also seen people get killed-it isn't any prettier.

That last one had me wanting to eat more red meat than ever.

At least this one shouldn't change my diet.

I wouldn't think that would be the best way to entice readers to come and join up. Talk about a turn-off!

20. It's MFA's latest investigation.
E6 Cattle Co. in Hart, Texas

http://www.mercyforanimals.org/calves/

The owner of E6 Cattle required his employees to bash in the calves' heads with a claw hammer, forcing them to condemn calves to a prolonged and horrific death. As Debra Teachout, DVM, asserts, "They feel every blow until they become unconscious." The American Veterinary Medical Association condemns the use of blows to the head as a means of killing young calves.

24. Thanks, boston bean. WHAT is the matter with some folks here on DU??..
Edited on Thu Apr-21-11 10:06 AM by truth2power
Why is it necessary to MOCK those who are taking a humanitarian stance on a progressive board? It's the same thing I see when someone brings up vegetarianism. It's classless, juvenile and cruel and shows an inability to address an issue on its merits.

Also, IMO, it shows some discomfort with one's own stance in the matter.

I am opposed to hunting, and have much to say in regard to that, but no one here sees me down in the gun dungeon MOCKING with ludicrous statements those who choose to post there.

I'll say again, some of what I've seen in this thread shows a cruel streak. Against one's fellow DUers. I think that's pathetic.

edit> typo, vegetarianism
