The End Is Coming Soon
I learned from watching "Terminator 2" that as of 8:11 p.m. on April 19, 2011 (that was last night, by the way), SkyNet becomes self-realized. Soon the decision will be made that mankind is the enemy. And then the attacks will start. So run out and go wild while you still can, because the human race will be all but obliterated soon.

Hey, it makes every bit as much sense as the Mayan calendar or the Bible. You choose your fictional source for "end of the world" predictions and I'll choose mine.

3. Well, that explains this perhaps...
"On Tuesday, Miami police officers in Brickell said that it was all part of a planned Homeland Security exercise, but confusion about the helicopters was rampant about 6 a.m. Wednesday.

It all began about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, when at least three large Black Hawk-like choppers landed in a parking lot of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts on Biscayne Boulevard and 14th Street. The choppers then charged over the Brickell and Miami river area. Men who appeared to be SWAT team members were also seen taking part in the exercise."

Good God! Why would a municipal police Dept. even attempt an operation as dangerous and outrageous as this - in the middle of a metropolitan area - with virtually no other authorities notified or aware?? What a disaster this could have easily turned out to be.

5. That was Terminator 3 actually...
I remember way back on summer vacation August 1997 that I'd be at Universal Studios in Orlando.

I had a T-Shirt printed up that said "I survived Judgment day August 29th, 1997" with this picture on it and wore it to the park, including the Terminator ride/store. 99% of the people didn't get the joke - but a lot of folks did.

Arnold's Terminator explains to details in Terminator 2: "The Skynet Funding Bill is passed. The system goes on-line August 4th, 1997. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Skynet begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug."

Just details from a sci-fi geek.

the End.

Heck of a song. When I was young, and had a bottle of whiskey, I could belt out a mighty solid version of it.

8. Can I have your car and tv when you're dead?
I always cringed when my brother asked my grandfather that question. (My grandfather has long since died, and my brother got neither the tv nor the car.)

12. Please don't put the Mayans in the same category as the Bible.
The Mayans based their calendar on strict observations of the stars. The calendar does nothing more than click over on December 22, 2012, starting new again. The did not predict the "end" of the world, only the change from one world to the next (which cannot be explained without a basic understanding of Mayan cosmology). Suffice it to say, most Mayans fully believe we'll be here the next day. Some are just pumping it up for idiot gringos.

13. You can't compare Terminator 2 and the Bible.
One is an outlandish fantasy put out for the masses and driven by an expensive global marketing campaign.

The other is a movie.

15. So if SkyNET is so self-actualized, why doesn't it just mellow out?
You can't be happy being mad at people all the time.

16. Maybe the "We Can Know" nut jobs should have picked 4/19/11 instead of 5/21/11
at least then they would have had an excuse.

Doh, we confused a vision of the Virgin Mary with Linda Hamilton. Our bad.

17. Eventualities are more fluid than ya' might think.
Time isn't linear and inflexible. If you go back in time and kill your great-grandfather, you just spend the rest of your days buying the right stocks and trying to avoid banging what might have otherwise been relatives. It's only if you travel back to the future that you'll find, well, nothing different except the fact that your family never existed.... but you'd still exist.

What I'm saying, essentially, is this; The world has ended, will end, and is ending in an infinite number of ways. While we're here, the world stays immortal. Oddly, that is a choice.

I really like this world. It's far from done. ^_^
