Maddow accuses GOP of Bringing in New Era of Big Government
"Last night Rachel Maddow accused Republicans of implementing a “Really Really Really BIG government” agenda. The argument may seem outlandish to many, since Republicans are traditionally known as the party of “small government.” However, Maddow claims that the GOP is not implementing their “big government” agenda on the federal level, but instead using state governments to override the rights of individuals and the powers of local towns.

Maddow’s prime example came in Benton Harbor, Michigan. In 2010 the Republicans were able to gain control of the governorship and legislature in Michigan. They have used that majority to pass a budget bill which allows the state government to literally take control of the local government within the state. Under the bill, if the state determines a town is in a “financial emergency” they can then appoint a financial manager over the town with near absolute power over local officials. The state of Michigan also now has the power to simply abolish a town which it determines is “failing.” The first town to be put under state control by Republican Governor Rick Snyder was Benton Harbor, with possibly tragic results for the town’s residents."

1. They live in opposite world
Overreaching government = less government
Decreased tax revenue = increased tax revenue
Christianity = money worship
War = peace
etc

2. Her reports on this ought to become as viral as possible
While the politicians and media are focused on the Kabuki dance over the budget (as Rachael described it) thbe real dismantling of democracy is taking place in the rest of the country.

Her reporting needs to be seen as widely as possible.

4. The fact is the Republicans are Big Spenders while they
accuse Democrats of the same thing.

It is just the matter of where and how Republicans Spend.
They spend by providing for Business. Corporate Welfare
is very expensive. To help a large company you must give
them large amounts of money. They spend on Defense.
Wasteful spending. Building very expensive pieces of war
equipment(Planes, for example) that the Military does not
even want. I could go on but most of your can list
Republican Spending. Republican governors give big tax breaks
and subsidies to business and pay for it by cutting services
to poor and middle class..

Republicans with the Morality Police are very intrusive
into the personal lives of people. Has anyone been following
all the state abortion laws that are being pushed right now?

Further intrusion by Big Government Republicans. All the
laws being passed under the guise of fair elections. Actually
legalizing suppression of the vote. Making it impossible
to recruit new voters.

GOP is just as much big Government as Democrats and I would
say much more intrusive on personal freedom. They are just
good at disguising their activity.

6. K&R - that was a great segment last night
Rachel is on a roll this week. Loved her Monday night segment on the sparsely attended tea party rallies & the over the top media attention to the tea party.
