1. If chase was my bank that would be the last straw
I'd go find a local bank or a credit union.

5. On an average of 8 times a month..
we get a mailing soliciting my husband and/or myself to get a credit card from Chase.

It will never happen.

7. That's it then. I'm out.
I'm sure that I have enough money in my accounts to keep them from hitting me with fees, but these fuckers need to be sent a message.

Never be sure when it comes to these fuckers. Especially Chase, they are the king of sharp practices.

12. And Bank of America is raising their overdraft fees.
Edited on Wed Apr-20-11 07:51 PM by Kat45
There was a pamphlet with my statement today. It said they've been charging no fee for overdrafts under, I forget how much, maybe $25. But now they will start charging overdraft fees of $35 per item, up to 4 items in one day!

I thought some of the new laws passed were supposed to eliminate banks fucking people over with overdraft fees.

18. chase testing just how limited the competition really is.
something has really been lost in all this.

there has been amazing advancement in technology, and that has allowed banks to open "branches" at a fraction of the cost a traditional human-staffed branch, saving them tons of money while dramatically increasing their market reach and share -- and the customer is actually being charged dramatically MORE for all this corporate cost-savings.

if that isn't testament to how ineffective marketplace competition is, i don't know what is.

19. I don't bank at Chase -- they're not even
here in New Mexico, but does that fee apply to those with accounts at Chase? If so, anyone who has an account at Chase is an idiot. The usual thing is that ATMs for your own bank don't charge a fee. At least that's been my experience for about thirty years now.
