3. A friend and former coworker got into a brawl and arrested on the subway
because he got in the middle of some guy beating his girlfriend. Thankfully the cops realized he wasn't the suspect after he got to the "Tombs."

Do you wear your costume regularly?

Mine is a little creepy. Even Batman had some trouble with it... long story.

Otherwise, I like your approach. ^_^

14. I have one problem with this poll...
The wording might better have been:

Politely remind the person that smoking on the train is against the law, and get stabbed in the face by a perfect stranger.

Tell the person to put that F****g thing out, and get stabbed in the face by a perfect stranger.

STFU, and don't make eye contact, and hope you don't get stabbed in the face by a perfect stranger.

15. The same thing you do when someone fires up their car, a plane, puts on perfume, posts on the net
remind them that the pollution they are causing harms others and that you, a good citizen, would never do anything to harm others by your personal choices - oh and then tell them they are a sinner :)

BTW, how do those subways work? Do they use electric? Is it coal produced?

Funny how we get herded like sheep to make moral judgements about something like smoking while totally ignoring things which are just as bad if not worse (social stigma - see this article: http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/195773/ )

I live behind I270 here in Ohio. Me and the folks in my hood get a ton of pollution from folks in their cars, and the big trucks, as they ride down the freeway. Those same people are probably the ones who whine about smokers in bars...as their cars pollute the air I breathe. And I didn't even have a CHOICE (like they did - they did not have to go to a bar that allowed smoking, they chose to).

Funny how self righteous people will yell about folks who smoke in a place they don't have to go to, and then turn around and put more wicked things into the air I have to breath to get their kids to a soccer game.

Smoking on a subway? If that is the worst thing they face in their life...well I want their life.

37. It's not about being afraid to speak up.
It's about making good decisions. If you see a cop on the platform while some guy lights up a blunt, go ahead and tell the cop. But confronting crazy people is not a good idea. And any guy lighting up a blunt downtown during business hours is likely pretty crazy.

20. it was a blunt, not a cigarette
Which might screw up your poll results seeing as while some people may not complain about someone smoking legal tobacco they might if it was illegal pot.

Considering your poll has to do with the recent story of the woman getting slashed in the face with a pen by someone she had asked not to smoke I figured this point was relevant.

It reinforces them. If the person is crazy enough to light a blunt on a train, they're too crazy for you to confront.

48. Right On. I've been there, had a good time.
It's cool, just not really my speed anymore. On the whole the East Coast seems a little too edgy for me. I lived in Chicago for years so I kind of got my mega-urban experience jones out of my system at that time. (This story is nothing compared to some of the shit I used to see go down on the "El") Plus, it's a haul.

But I do have good friends out there, and a lot of people love it, I will grant you that. :hi:

twice a day unless I decide to walk. Once, while waiting on a platform somebody lit up right next to me. I asked him to put it out and he did (I'm also a smoker). Granted, he looked like a high school kid and not dangerous at all.
