Democrats still talking COMPROMISE on deficit reduction
Tonight on Rachel's show Ed Rendell, former Governor of Pennsylvania, watched as Rachel showed the poll numbers for Taxing the Wealthy: 75% In Favor 25% Opposed and For Leaving Medicare As IS: 65% In Favor, 35% Opposed.

Gov. Rendell, who is now a paid MSNBC political analyst, agreed with Rachel that those poll numbers should embolden Democrats to demand that the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes. Then, after viewing the video of Congressman Paul Ryan being BOOED by his own constituents when he said "We already tax the wealthy", Rendell agreed with Rachel that the Democrats are in a very strong position.

THEN Gov. Rendell proceeded to say how the Democrats didn't need to give the Republicans everything they want, but that THE DEMOCRATS DO NEED TO COMPROMISE WITH THE REPUBLICANS.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is why I and many other Democrats are so fucking angry with our party. Here we have a golden opportunity for the Democrats to stand up and show some backbone AND beat the Republicans, but what do we get? Another big name in the Democratic party advocating compromise.

That is pure bullshit. THE COMPROMISING NEEDS TO STOP!!!

1. Im afraid our party has been 'compromised' by conservatives
It starts at the top, and extends throughout Congress, and is prevalent at the state level as well.

3. Are you the same person on OET? Somehow the two personalities
do not jell, just asking?

4. I'm a Gemini. What can I say?
Curiosity compels me to ask: what do you mean about the 'two personalities do not jell'?

5. Republicans control the House.
Nothing can get passed without compromise of some sort. Or do you think we can bully them into submission?

6. In some cases, passing nothing is the best outcome
When it comes to the kind of draconian budget cuts the GOP is demanding, doing nothing is far preferable to doing something harmful and destructive.

The real problem is that the GOP is ready to hold the country hostage by refusing to pass legislation on any subject unless their pet proposals are included.

But if the kind of compromise Rendell is proposing amounts to "let's see if we can get them to only screw over people a little instead of a lot," that is unacceptable.

7. You don't compromise bedrock principles.
And you don't dismiss your base.

If my president OKs babies going hungry — which he did by cutting WIC — then my president had better have skinned knees.

That is all.

8. First off, I agree.
However, what was cut from WIC was unused funds from last year. No actual WIC funding or participants were cut.

And another (I couldn't find the link to the .pdf itself, so I hope this one to Google docs does).

9. Yes. He CAN bully them into submission. Without hardly trying the President
has already gotten the public talking about how badly they want the wealthiest to pay their fair share of taxes. People are pissed and want to see someone stand up for THEM. When they figure out that the Democrats will vote for the tax increases they will start to pressure the hell out of the Republican obstructionists.

Right now, the Republicans are getting their asses handed to them in Wisconsin and their poster boy for Fucking the Working Class, Paul Ryan, was BOOED by his own mostly conservative constituents. That's called a 'sign from god' or something close to that.

The Republicans may be hard-core but they also want to be re-elected. Believe me, they will get very creative in explaining how their votes to tax the wealthy are really bolstering 'family values' or protecting us from illegal aliens, or some such shit.

Strike While The Iron Is Hot!!
