Drilling Permits should not be issued unless the industry submits a worse case scenario battle plan
to recover all spills/blown pipes quickly and efficently...

This would take a small fund to cover costs of operating a stand by fleet of barges and operators to enable a quick response to a leaky site...

BE PREPARED for the worst case blowout...

get the oil before it reaches shore is the thought...

we have the means to do this....why wait for a disaster then use band aids?

1. While In Dallas Last Week - I Heard On RW Neocon Radio That......
if a company wants to drill in the Gulf and doesn't want to live by the U.S. rules - all they have to do is go out into international waters in the Gulf and they can drill. Is there any truth to that statement or is it just RW Neocon BS?

3. They had a plan for the Gulf
but the plan addressed whales, krill, walruses, polar bears. Gotta love copy&paste bureaucracy.

:hi:

5. Unfortunately with the prises of oil going up anyone who demands
they stop drilling for any reason will get the blame. People are so stupid. The oil workers are the first to complain followed by the governors of the states and then the drivers of America. This is a damned if you do - damned if you don't situation. And no one is considering what the right thing to do is.

7. I agree but the forces I spoke about are going to fight this until it is
too late. I saw some pictures of the before and after effects on the marshes on DU yesterday. They are heart breaking. They showed the cranes flying over the destroyed area they used to nest in - wonder where they made their nests this year?

12. IT WOULD MAKE PERFECT SENSE...oops, srry,.. Cheap insurance to prevent blowouts from becoming
eco disasters by rapid containment...

Provides jobs to maintain barge fleet/skimmer vessels...

saves the Bay waters, reefs, wildlife..

used as a research platform....

500 mil way better than 500 BILLION

10. I agree, up to the "unless" part.
I really think we need to stop digging stuff up out of the earth and burning it, be it coal, gas, uranium, oil, whatever. The sooner the better.
