2. in vermont we've been having a terrible plague of locusts |
|
no plague of frogs to date. all the public schools are now holding gay orgies from grade 3 on up.
that was the fantasy many years ago on the part of the anti-civil union folks.
of course nothing happened during the decade that civil unions were the law and nothing has happened in the two years since marriage equality was instituted. In fact, it's a big snore.

What Will Happen when Gay Marriage Is Legalized? It is just a matter of time when it will be the law of the land. http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/04/20/gay-marriage-opponents-now-in-minority/Gay Marriage Opponents Now in Minority By NATE SILVER

I will have to buy a wedding gift for some friends. I hope they register because I've not got a clue what they need.

8. CATO predicts nearly no effect on government spending |
|
More spending - Spousal benefits from Social Security which is the strongest argument against gay marriage in my mind.
Greater expenses to employers as partners come onto health care plans.
On the flip side it is hard to argue that all adults should not be able to enter into state recognized contracts without discrimination.
25 of 27 of my daughter's Middle School Honors classmates think that marriage between gays should be legalized, and this is in a pretty conservative community. Within ten years it will be the law of the land.
Conservatives are on the wrong side of this issue. They will pay the price.

13. You forgot to mention that former Senator Santorum will be forced to marry his dog. Or turtle. |
|
Not that any dog or turtle should be forced to marry so far below their station; but apparently that's the inevitable consequence.

16. This reminds me of something a rightwing teacher said when I was middle-school |
|
I'm paraphrasing of course, but here goes: "The fall of every great civilization in history, has occurred when homosexuality is tolerated." I guess Alexander didn't get the memo, because I've heard he was bi-sexual, its kind of sad when ancient are more tolerant than us, by the way.
