Edited on Thu Apr-21-11 02:25 PM by cleanhippie
No, I am not making this shit up.

---------------------------------------------

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RICK PERRY, Governor of Texas, under the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Statutes of the State of Texas, do hereby proclaim the three-day period from Friday, April 22, 2011, to Sunday, April 24, 2011, as Days of Prayer for Rain in the State of Texas. I urge Texans of all faiths and traditions to offer prayers on that day for the healing of our land, the rebuilding of our communities and the restoration of our normal and robust way of life.

17. bah hahah. look at the weather forecast then call out for prayer. funny. we have had .06 rain
for a certain long period that is normally 2.67 inches. hubby and i saw thte other night and had to laugh, in a sad kinda way.

need that rain to water our yard. water bill gets too high, too easily and our grass is still yellow.

21. Yep!
I never check the weather, but I just happened to check it today (in Austin) because it seemed dark outside given how late in the morning it was. I noticed that there was no rain around, but they were predicting possible rainstorms this weekend.

Then I come read this crap. How convenient. Watch it still not rain, heh.

5. Conversely, if nothing happens after those three days of prayers,
will Texas acknowledge it's being punished by God for having produced Rick Perry, Tom Delay, and *?

6. Too bad Burt Lancaster & Katherine Hepburn are no longer with us
makes as much sense as praying for rain..especially since eventually it will rain.. Perhaps they should be planting more trees & pumping out less CO2

14. We had a wildfire in our suburban neighborhood last weekend.
Southwest Austin.

A homeless man's campfire got out of control, and the fire took off in the dry grass, with a lot of help from wind.

The firefighters (and the Air Force) were amazing. I didn't lose my house, but others weren't so lucky.

I'LL PRAY FOR RAIN! If God answers within 24 hours, I'll reconsider my atheism.

I will not, however, reconsider my contempt for Gov. Perry.

25. Hey, Rick, what's all this prayer for, anyway?
Don't you realize that Texas will get its rain under the trickle-down theory? Just as soon as that works in the economy, I'm sure it'll work in Texas weather.

;-)

(We have been getting a little rain in North Texas, but it's not what's really needed.)
