Manning Protesters Sing to Obama: “We Paid Our Dues; Where’s Our Change?”
By: emptywheel Thursday April 21, 2011 11:35 am

At today’s presidential fundraiser in San Francisco, several attendees sang a song to Obama protesting Bradley Manning’s treatment. (From the White House pool report)

Mr. Obama was in the middle of his remarks when a woman in a white suit stood up and said, Mr. President we wrote you a song. POTUS tried to get her to wait until later, but she persisted and the table of 10 broke into a song that pointed out they’d just spent $5,000 donating to his campaign and went on to protest the treatment of Pfc. Bradley Manning.

The woman stayed standing as they sang. Mr. Obama looked to Ms. Pelosi and asked, Nancy did you do this? Ms. Pelosi had a look on her face, as she stared at the singing group, that definitely said she did not.

1. Obama joined the other side when he persecuted Manning.
It was heroism to release the Iraq/Afghanistan war logs. And Manning clearly didn't release the private cables of staffers.

There's NO excuse for this administration to be treating Manning just like Bush and Cheney would.

4. It did seem a "Blame Game" kind of thing. That stuff I would have though beneath him..
to trash a fellow Dem in her own territory at a "Fundraiser" where she'd obviously brought in the BIG MONEY..

It was a low blow, imho...for that to happen.

Reagan didn't believe in trashing your BASE...but his base was High Rollers. I wonder if History Repeats... I don't know anymore..what to think.

7. It's possible he's "edgy and defensive." All his Presidential Run ..he had fawning supporters
...NOW he deals with his POLICY as PRESIDENT. He will definitely have folks who are unhappy with his Policies.. but, THEY have every much right to protest him as Democratic Donors and You and I who donted to him have!

Donating, Voting Democrats have EVERY RIGHT to "Correct a President" that WE INSTALLED...and hold him ACCOUNTABLE.

THAT's DEMOCRACY IN ACTION!

3. Come on ! He asked the DOD if Manning was being...
.... abused and DOD assured him he wasn't.

Why all the fuss?

(Seriously... that exchange was... for me.... truly one of the most *enlightening* moments of the Obama presidency.)
