The Senate was going to kick Ensign out? |
|
I hope that was true. He sure departed way sooner than expected

1. I've heard a couple of possible explanations -- hadn't heard that one (which I like) - |

3. gotta resign befor the benefits get taken away. |

I do admire how he is certain he broke no law, unless of course he feels the ten commandments aren't realy laws.
But, those are for others in the same predicament, not a senator.:puke:

4. Plus, by resigning, the results of the Ethics Comm. investigation will just be filed away. |
|
Must be something in there he doesn't want public.

The ethics committee was investigating him. If he resigns now then the investigation will end. He was not going to run for re-election in 2012. Now the governor can appoint Heller to take his place, which helps cut the legs off of a Sharon Angle run. Also, Ensign will be able to retire with his benefits intact. My guess is that the investigation committee let him know what evidence they have against him and gave him a little push to the door.

and all the shit would have rolled downhill right onto his silvery-locked head:) He was hoping they would drop it since the Atty Gen had chosen not to pursue prosecution, having already indicted the VICTIM of his scheme (the husband)..
Ensign thought he could ride out the storm,,but time ran out
