Did Michael Steele on the ED show claim
That some jobs created through the stimulus were government contractor jobs? As if these jobs are the hated government jobs the right views as so odious? I've always thought the jobs they viewed as horrible were public sector workers specifically unionize public workers. Government contractors? Like defense contractors? I'm confused.....

Help?

6. I know
It's so uncomfortable watching. Great show though!

Interesting cause on Lawrence's show Alice Rivilin also brought up that government contractors would not be paid if the republicans refuse to raise the debt limit. I think if government contractors got the message that they were in the line of fire from republican policy that most of the Virginia republicans I know would seriously begin to question supporting republicans similar to those former union republicans on Ed's show. Good for dems! :)

4. what should be pointed out to the dip shit
is that when you are in a state with an "official" unemployment rate over 10%, and there are 100 people out of work for every job opening, a "temporary job created by the government" may mean the difference between a one room flat or a cardboard box in the local outlaw homeless camp. And maybe other things like heat and food.

duh, you know that, I know that, Big Ed knows that, but Michael and the rest of the dips in the repub party do not seem to have a clue.

8. He's mixing up two GOP talking points
The first is that full-time public sector employees are difficult to fire.

The second is that a lot of stimulus spending goes to short-term contract jobs that don't stick around when the spending is over (and, honestly, fair enough on that point).
