Terry Jones to court: 'We are not criminals'
Dearborn — Controversial Florida pastor Terry Jones stood in a courtroom this morning defending his intentions to conduct a protest outside a nearby mosque, promising he had no intentions of burning Qurans or images of Muhammad.

"We are not criminals," Jones told the courtroom. "All we want to do is exercise our First Amendment rights."

Jones, 59, founder and president of Stand Up America Now!, was before a jury in court to fight a decision by the city to deny him a permit or set a "peace bond" to protest jihad and Sharia law on public land near the Islamic Center of America later this afternoon.

Jones also argued this morning the Quran "promotes terrorist activities around the world." Jones famously conducted a burning of a Quran in March along with pastor Wayne Sapp, 42.

Jones and Sapp squared off against Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad over Haddad's denial of a permit based on intelligence information that Jones might burn a Quran later today.

1. Stand Up America Now
How is Jones promoting anything good? Jones should do something of positive value for society if he really believes the teachings of Christ.

Yes, he has First Amendment rights but just becuase you can do something it doesn't mean you should. Book burning is an ignorant form of protest.
