Boehner: July troop draw-down in Afghanistan could "undermine the tenuous progress we've made"

WASHINGTON — US House Speaker John Boehner wrapped up a visit to Afghanistan Wednesday and assailed President Barack Obama's plan to begin pulling US troops out in July a risk to fragile security gains.

"Any drawdown of US troops must be based on the conditions on the ground, not on political calculations," Boehner, the White House's top Republican foe in the US Congress, said in a statement from his office in Washington.

"If the Obama administration insists on beginning to draw down troops in July, it must explain how the pace and scope of such a move will not undermine the tenuous progress we've made thus far. To date, it has not done so."

Boehner's comments came at the end of a two-day visit to Afghanistan, during which the congressional delegation he led heard from US General David Petraeus, US commander of foreign forces in Afghanistan.

3. Did he say that with a straight face?
If your "mission" lasts longer than WWII, there's something wrong with your mission.

10. Or young Republicans
With all this agitation from the likes of Boehner and McCain about how the United States needs to project its power all over the globe, I notice that not one of these war peacocks is calling on their closest constituents to put up a son or a daughter for the homeland. Where are the scions of the Koch family? Why aren't they killing and dying for the country that has (literally) given their family so much?

6. In reality
It's all about keeping the war going for several reasons, one it will make the president look bad to his base, two it keeps his big money supporters happy, and three he is just to damned stupid to realize this war is lost!

7. 100,000 troops=100 bilion a year to keep them there, enough to really reduce the fucking deficit
that they want to cut SS and Medicare to solve. Maybe the pukes should make the rich pay the fucking tab if they thing it is in the VITAL interests of this country to keep the military industrial complex busy blowing the hell out of huts in third world countries.
