A visit to a childhood home in Prypyat (Chernobyl)


Former Kyiv Post staff writer Alina Rudya in the Prypyat, Ukraine apartment that her family abandoned following the April 26, 1986, explosion at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. Alina was a baby then. Her father, Constantine Rudya, worked at the plant and died of cancer in 2006 at the age of 47.

2. I visited Prypyat several years ago.
It was an amazing experience.
