The fact that some 14 year old teabagger piece of shit can spew bullshit and the people who heckle.. |

her are considered wrong is indicative of a political culture in which the reflex to call people out on their bullshit has been effectively repressed. When people prize civility over honesty it endangers freedom.

He is a great kid, and very sympathetic figure--yet Fox News etc mocked him and accused Obam a of pandering when he has him at events. Liberal Media is scared of liberals and liberal causes, so they avoid our spokespeople. That's just the way those hypocrites play the game.

why not just do what actually WORKS instead unleashing anger at the nearest fellow peasant?
This is part of why we don't get coverage from the MSM -- obscene signs, obscene chants, totally mixed messages at almost every rally (Free Mumia, Faux Nooz lies, etc.) and hostility toward the MSM. Name calling and obscenity does NOT get our message out -- it obscures it.

Doesn't matter what we do, as long as it's not part of their message of fascism and hate, they're not going to show it.
Honestly, some Democrats sound a lot like abused spouses who don't want to admit the abuse and who think it's their fault and that if they're just good enough, perfect enough, if they do everything right, they won't get punched this time.

What a weird, wrong and insulting analogy btw. But in a thread that started by defending obscene personal attacks on a 14 year-old girl this is progress. I'm an adult, and I could fire right back. But that isn't my style.

A couple of years ago our town went into full freakout mode because a mural painted on a local elementary school showed a Hispanic boy (modeled after an actual student at the school) as the main focus. At the dedication to the students (some of which were STILL Hispanic...the horrah) people were driving by and yelling obscenities AT THE CHILDREN!
I don't approve of it from "their" side, I won't condone it on "our" side. Back off of the kids. You aren't proving anything to anyone by being a freakin' bully.

I didn't like her speech, but I felt she was a mixed-up kid subjected to a a lot of brainwashing by activist parents, and I don't like her being called a vulgar name here at DU.
We can talk about what's wrong with what right-wingers say without having to sink to that level.

30. Not one single post saying maybe the young girl is misguided and needs some honest information for a |
|
change rather than the spoonfed crap she probably gets at home...
Nothing but "Fuck her!" and "she can eat shit!" and the like.
The other laughable bits of info I get from this thread and the other thread about the same subject is that if a person who identifies as liberal or progressive or democrat is caught on film acting in a way that some consider "over the line", that person MUST be a plant. It's not at all possible that what we see is what is what actually happened, nooooo we're better than that.
I read this thread and would respectfully disagree. There are times I find DU to be just as mean-spirited as any other website I've read.
Now before anyone replies with the usual if you don't like it lump it and leave, I'm not going anywhere. Other times I find DU to be as informative, caring, enlightening, reassuring, and relaxing as any other website I've read.
Might could the young lady benefit from some straightforward talk about what she's wrong about and why she's wrong, rather than simply "fuck her".

That this was a right-wing setup, I offer this thread as evidence that a lot of DUers would have said the same thing had they been given the chance.
When I was 14 and living with my parents, I was a bit of a rabid conservative myself...and the more I saw my liberal friends insulting right-wingers, the less I wanted to switch over.
So yeah, even if this was a setup, we don't need to insult this girl. It's low and doesn't do either side any good.
