The teaparty is nothing more than a rebranding of the republican party that was created and funded by the republicans. Then their plan didn't go exactly as well as they thought it would, because of so many bigot and racists that crawled out of the woodwork, so many of them are trying to distance themselves from it.

It pretty much started at the 2008 Republican Convention. I remember during their convention several reporters commented that the word 'republican' was no where to be seen in/at the convention hall. Then not long after that the 'teaparty' emerged.

It was a republican strategy that was probably thought out at a think tank - pure and simple!
