What is the state of your state?
I wonder if we can get a DUers assessment of how things are from state to state. What are the unemployment figures in your state? What's been going on in education? What has your legislature been up to?

7. Oregon
More than 31 bills were written to remove Medcanna laws and protections.
Abortion bills introduced by 25 republicans which are amongst the most restrictive invasive bills introduced in the country.

$93,000,000.00 in business tax benefits were granted and school budgets slashed, social services and property tax benefits for the elderly cut.
Fees and fines increased for "the little people" and apparently forgiveness to business is granted and or waived.

Unions are quietly being attacked, but certainly not at the level they are in the mid-west.

They also seek the impede voter registration.

A lot of back door legislation here seeks to remove and restrict our rights, but in a most fragmented way. We have an evenly "split house" and a Dem Senate majority along with a third term Dem Governor.

I have not reviewed all of the bills, yet.

10. What remains to be seen of course
is how many of these bills will be signed into law. We do still have a Dem Gov.

The $93,000,000.00 has been signed at this point.

12. Education isn't a word we take kindly to, around here.
We have a Governor that doesn't live in the Governor's Mansion.

Our legislature is made up of complete morons, and our Congressional delegation isn't much better. (Actually it is much, much worse. Ever hear of Joe Barton or Screwy Louis Gohmert?)

Unemployment numbers are picked by a game of darts and a few rounds of shots.

I live on the frontier. If I go 5 miles west, its the land of yahoos and skinheads. If I go five miles east there's civilization. Muhlenberg College, Lehigh, Lafayette and smart people.

17. Tennessee. It's always been conservative, but
in the past it's been "moderate" conservative, not totally nutz conservative whether Democrats or Republicans elected. That seems to be holding up, although we do have a LOT of the nuts in the Legislature and in the Lt. Governor position now.

There are issues that I worry about of course. There are a lot of laws that are being proposed that are FAR, FAR out in right field. The more "moderate" (VERY relative term) Republican governor is, so far, holding out for LESS radical laws. We'll see if he caves. The "Sharia" law has been modified to include ANY group that they designate as "terrorist" and that's a pretty slippery slope. Downright ice covered as far as I'm concerned. Teachers and all public employees organizing rights are under constant attack. But overall our Republicans (at least the ones with the final sayso) are more "moderate" than AZ or the midwest governors or so it seems.

There's still WAY enough to continously fight though.
