Causing acid reflux on other fronts, Franklin GRAHAM throws Quitter under the bus |
|
Edited on Sun Apr-24-11 09:40 AM by UTUSN
The sight and sound of him automatically gives me a sour stomach and I just let the same-old-crap flow on by:
Cristiane asked him about the religio-wingnut renting of that old social safety net and he blathered, "A HUNDRED years ago... "
A hundred years ago!1 Is that the Restore point this f-wad wants to set?!1
"A hundred years ago it was the churches that (provided everything). When somebody was out of work, they went to the churches to ask. But then the government took that away from the churches. The government had more money."
O.K., it was just incredible, yet predictable CRAP, and the reflux put me into a numbed condition. Plus, he relayed what he said was a recent conversation with his genetic contributor, who had said the Old(er) One "does not recognize this country as the country he grew up in." That in that other Country, everybody was polite and got along with each other and showed deference. Yeah-right.
Do the GRAHAMs know that complaining about the young generation is a meme going back at least to the Ancient Greeks?!1
But then she said that he had been to Haiti with Quitter, and I slightly pricked up my ears, preparing to hear him say she would be great on the back of one of his motorcycles and swigging from a liquor bottle, from his old days...
But my ears went into full prick when he said (paraphrasing), to the question, "Would she be your candidate?" ---"I don't think so. I don't think she's interested in politics. I think she likes to talk..."
So Christiane rode on, "But if she is the candidate?" ---"It depends on who the other candidates are."
Bwah-ha-HAH!1

5. Uh, did you expect him to be a President OBAMA supporter? |
|
The sinking of Quitter among Rethugs is getting to be old news, but still newsy.

4. The good old days - when you had to profess your love of Christ to get food and shelter. |
|
My question to Franklin-
Does your family have a perpetual franchise agreement with God as Counselor to Presidents?

6. Franklin Graham Taking Historical Liberties |
|
Franklin Graham, like other Religious Right pooh-bahs is taking historical liberties.
No, there WAS public relief as early as the 1880's in places like Providence, Rhode Island. I came across that while doing research for a paper at school. The sort of relief given would thrill the hearts of social reactionaries today: it was miserly, humiliating, and publicly degrading. The public official in charge of doling out what scraps were given was called "The Overseer of the Poor."
