What kind of a relationship exists between the Dem. and the Repub. leadership of today?
Described briefly and simply, it is one of making non-stop and
profitable demands for themselves on the part of the Repubs,
and one of bending over backwards to appease them on the part
of the Dems.

As far as political elections are concerned, from Bush/Gore till
today, the Neocons have been practicing nationwide fraud. Everyone
knows about the Diebold Electron Voting Machines, for example,
but today, eleven years later, they are still in use in many states.
Even then the Repubs. needed the help of the Neocon-oriented Supreme
Court to help Bush "win." Gore must have won the election by a lot
more than 500,000 votes. But the Dems. just took it lying down. What
do the Neocons have to do before the Dems. begin to become more wary
of them, whenever election time approaches?

Do some Dems. think being trusting of these characters would be a
wise approach, or perhaps hope that it might even help them to
mend their crooked ways and make a change for the better?

People with anti-social personality disorders have no conscience
that can be worked on. They cannot be influenced. The only thing
they respond to in this situation is the fear of being found out
and punished. They don't respond to anything else.

And since they know that the Dems. have been namby-pamby and
wishy-washy about even protesting very strongly against this fraud,
the Repubs. no longer seem to mind too much about risking being
found out. They simply continue in their crooked and corrupt ways.

Dems. are becoming the ENABLERS (much like the families of alcoholics
often do) -- and at their own expense. It's beginning to look
as though THE ONE IS AS CRAZY AS THE OTHER. They seem to fit so well
together.

Yes, sadists and masochists fit well together. It's just that one of
them won't live very long. Guess which one!!

1. Quite true, the pubs slam the dems and the dems say, "please do it again!" You
summed it up quite nicely IMO.

2. I LOVE the "ENABLERS" meme. May it spread far and wide, creating a seismic shift.
It's a stunningly accurate and piercingly appropriate word that most people completely understand what is meant by it.

3. This is how I sum it up
Republicans are the masters, Democrats are the house slaves, and the rest of us are field hands.

are the traitors to our Constitution, don't you think?

4. Hopefully future Dems won't lay down like year 2000 Dems did.
I feel there's a shift in attitude slowly coming. If we as Dems had fought harder and kept after it, No Bush Administration would have meant no 9/11, no Great Recession and all the things we're still struggling with that came from that era.
There's too much at stake to allow the GOP to hand our government over to the richest 2% and large corporate conglomerates again, whether domestic or especially foreign.
I truly believe there's a sector of right wing that has no concern at all for the future of the USA and really all they want is to grab as much profit from it as they can in the process of turning the free people of the US into wage slaves.

16. I hope this "shift in attitude" won't take too long acomin '. We are
already very late. Times change continually, of course. But I wish we had someone
like FDR or Truman right now, who knew how to get the liberals united.

By the way, to me "liberal" is a good word. Just look up any dictionary. It's
the Neocons who tried and partly succeeded in turning it into a dirty word. I'm
not going to let them define or change for me what English words mean. If the
Fundamentalists only understood that Jesus Christ was a liberal! But then, that's
too much to expect this of them.

21. Yes, our present leadership seems to be like that. I keep on hoping
that they are doing this only because the Repubs. have a lot of power that goes with money,
and that the Dem. leadership somehow does have a plan up their sleeve to be used when the
time is appropriate. But this is probably wishful thinking on my part.

7. Politics = Sports
Repubs and Dems are like rival sports teams. We are the respective fans.

They say the fans are important but it's really about the money.

They don't care what's best for the fans. They care about winning.

They use marketing and promotional tricks to get you to root for them. Instead of 'One for the thumb' it's 'Yes we can.'

Conventions are pep-rallies. Nomination speeches are trash talking fodder for newspapers. Elections are the Superbowl.

Obama was a young starting QB (state Senator) who was groomed for the pros. Bush was the journeyman QB that had never had any success but was convinced to play one more season.

Instead of the west coast offense you have the Southern Strategy.

You don't draft the best athlete - you vote for the one who can help you win.

The sad thing is fans for the most part know their fans. Voters actually think they matter.

It's a game boys and girls brought to you with corporate sponsorship.

9. This Opinion is the word on the street. The Left Wing common Wisdom.
I've seen Democratic senators and congress-people say and do valiant and progressive things. Yet it's not enough, and if we can vote in non-compromised candidates, that are more like Dennis Kusinich and Bernie Saunders, and no more wimpy compromisers.

Yet, less campaign $$ means we might not notice the people we need.

11. And "I've seen Republican senators and congress-people say and do valiant and progressive things."
IMO bipartisan support passes bills favorable to corporatist.

Presidents then sign them with photo ops flanked by leaders from both parties to show their support for laws that tighten the strangle hold of the one per centers who own over 50% of our financial wealth and control every multinational corporation.

10. With one big difference: the corporate masters prefer the Repubs.
by far, as can be shown by the difference in the amount of money they donate to
Repub. politicians. And, most corporate execs. are Repub. members themselves.

12. Voters are divided over six or so polarizing issues. Republican strategist like Rove have learned
how to use those issues to get candidates elected but IMO corporatist do not want right wing voters to become too powerful.

I expect over time the presidency will shift between parties with corporatist controlling presidents behind the scene and when leaving office becoming multi-millionaires.

I do so hope I'm wrong.

14. I think corporatists are trying to control everyone and everything behind the scenes
right now. It's up to us to try and stop them. Nobody wants to be controlled by anybody.
This is what we are doing, aren't we?

It is very similar to the relationship between one of Michael Vick's pit bulls and a cat.

15. Two sides of the same coin
BUT they truly despise each other. Our side pretends to "like" them but feels badly that they don't understand the error of their ways..

their side just wants to kill us.. (if they could get away with it & not go to jail)

25. What you describe does have some beginning signs of a
sado-masochistic relationship: the agressor with murder in mind, and the appeaser who would try to
improve the situation between them.

19. What has to be done.
Edited on Mon Apr-25-11 06:59 AM by RandomThoughts
Is that the group being oppressed have to stand up, even when the group that oppresses threatens much destruction.

It is 'they kill you with your love' by threatening many people, that gets most to back down.

Make them show what they are, don't be part of it, but don't back down to threats of destruction, threats that try to get you to join in wrong.

That is not the masochist to the sadist, becuase there will be pay back on every action done, and it is not a desire for that to happen, it is only known that it is better for them to do wrong and be stopped, even with great loss, then to join them in doing great wrong.

Make the sadist hurt someone, don't back down to the threat, so you can stop him and remove him if he tries to hurt someone. Although not everything works out, so there is hardship, but don't accept it by going along with it.

The sadist has been getting by with mostly threats and a few examples, wrongful prosecutions or even destruction. Call there hand every time, and make them do the damage they threaten, so then they are seen and removed from having any influence.

If you fold to them, they are not only not stopped, but you give them what you could use to stop them.

People don't get it, Blown up oil wells, or nuclear reactors, if not done by you, is far better then accepting those that would do those things as having any say or power over you.
