11. Broad did not say his philanthropy had to make a profit. |
|
What Broad did say is that projects that he put money into had to meet their stated objectives. This poster is content with that code. Why throw money into a effort that is failing to meet it's stated objectives?

I was hoping for more on his intrusive manipulation of public education. They barely gave schools a mention... just one reference to "education reform" and a quick picture of some school kids holding up a sign saying, "Thank You, Mr. Broad."
I agree that his contributions to the arts are impressive, but he sure enjoys taking credit for them! And he seems to only include what he "deems" important, but that was just an impression that I got. I've never been to any of his institutions in LA, so I don't know that for sure.
I would say that modesty is a virtue he lacks, however.

13. Has anyone noticed.. now ...that all the jobs are gone to China.... |
|
. the only thing left in this country .. is to dismantle is the infrastructure.
Does anyone notice that the Repukes are having a giant yard sale of American Assets?
Public schools, retirement, toll roads, bridges.. it's all on the auction block. Take the money and run....

15. Disgusted by him. He gets to choose he spends the money on. |
|
Nothing that I saw indicated he spent money on that would help the disadvantaged.
How about covering healthcare for everyone making less than $50,000 in LA. Instead he supports an art gallery that caters to the wealthy.

19. How many times was he referred to as a "self made" billionaire? |
|
Edited on Sun Apr-24-11 08:30 PM by Billy Burnett
4, 5, 6 times? Sold his bank in '99 for billions.
Imo, he should have been taxed more. If the über rich paid high taxes, as they used to, then the philanthropy wouldn't be as "needed". Those collected tax revenues would be able to pay for WPA type projects right now, and those projects would have touched and helped many more people in need than the nouveau riche perusing the art galleries in NYC and SF.
