I'm fine with whatever the Gang of Six comes up with. |
|
President Obama's budget won't pass the House as is. Ryan's budget won't pass the Senate as is.
Let's deal with facts, folks.

23. I don't think "whatever they come up with" is an alternative. |
|
Especially the day in question. I don't have to sign on to a damn thing and since no matter what my alternative are you will scoff at them as politically unrealistic and continue to wave pom poms for non-existent bullshit by a gaggle of conservatives.

9. It's too bad.... I bring it up Every. Single. Time. because |
|
the whole it being off the table before it was ever on the table thing is just another rejection of the real Dems of the House (plus Bernie Sanders) by the "centrist" (would be described as extreme right-wing in a civilized nation) cabal of Washington legislators.
80+ REAL Dem votes may end up being in the minority but are not something to be forgotten when the DLC types try to shove a Republican budget down our throats.

13. It is the only good budget on the table, but we shouldn't expect good legislation because |

Edited on Sun Apr-24-11 11:04 PM by white_wolf
that wouldn't be pragmatic or sensible. At least that is the vibe I get from some people, but I'd much rather fight for something good.

committee of three Republicans and three Blue Dog Democrats? No thanks. I want some real Democrats representing what 70% of the country want, not what "K" street wants.

14. Obama's budget speech got a standing O from me and I support his positions. |
|
Republicans have overreached and now we finally have a chance to make our case to the public and define Republicans as extremist. They are the ones who want to end Medicare, raise taxes on the poor and middle class and use those savings to pay for tax cuts on the top end and elimination of capital gains.
The actual "facts" of politics call for us to exploit their mistake which President Obama clearly caught onto. Why won't you?

18. I bet you are not on Social Security or Medicare, because if you were, |
|
if you knew how important to you they are once you are on them . . . . you wouldn't say what you just said, LLStarks.
The fact is that our country has been ruined by the banks and Wall Streeters working with the politicians.
No budget created by the folks in D.C. will be acceptable to ordinary Americans. D.C. will never risk raising taxes on the only people with the money to pay meaningful taxes.
A D.C. compromise will mean the rich getting richer and richer and richer while the rest of us get poorer and poorer and poorer.

|
And don't give a damn about the 99% of us who face DEATH with this budget. And do remember that the Republicans are proposing similar state budgets, and that places like Michigan are going full on in your face fascist.
Let them eat cake, huh? I remember how well that worked out for the French top 1% in the 1700s.
