How will America react when Gabi Giffords' photos come out this weekend?

She's attending the Friday shuttle launch. I've been wonderinng how "we" will react when confronted with the evidence of our destructive politics and the sick talk that's taken the place of rational discourse.

The tea party is a hate crime syndicate.

They will make fun of her. We will be sympathetic to her plight.

From what it sounds like, she is having an excellent recovery, so in the best case scenario, she'll have a shaved head


But what do I know about brain surgery? Nothing, other than it's better than the alternative

14. Yep, she will probably be flown there in a private plane that will taxi into a hangar

and then she will be put in a secure vehicle & driven into an underground parking facility & taken by elevator to a private area.

It's obvious that she is not ready to be "gawked at", and if her right side is affected, most likely she has facial paralysis too, so why would she want to have her picture plastered on every tv screen in the world.

The few tidbits of information that have trickled out, lead me to believe that though she's progressing, she is nowhere near ready to be public just yet.. One person said she speaks slowly,, in one to three word sentences, and after her rehab she's often too tired to even have her husband visit her. She is profoundly affected, and it will take a lot of time for her to reach a point where she's "back"..

Traumatic brain injuries are incredibly hard to recover from, and the person will never "be the same". Their new reality will take a lot of time to adjust to. The fact that she is not resigning, is a courtesy to her staffers who at least have hope that she'll return, but in the meantime, they have time to plan for their own futures. By keeping her office open, they got a few years of employment they might not have had otherwise.

5. I imagine there are those who will say See? What happened to her wasn't so bad.

And I imagine there will be reference to the excellent healthcare we have in this country! BUT, if anyone dares refer to what put her in this condition, I imagine there will be terrible disapproval, because that would be politicizing her condition.

And now, I'm a little sickened by what I imagine. It's no fun to go there.

The personality of this country is hateful and it starts at the top.

I do not see or hear anyone at the top really trying to change this hate.

Her progress is amazing, but she isn't 100% yet.

19. MSNBC stated a while ago that there will be no photos from the launch.

Also, they said that photos will only be authorized for release by Giffords herself, and no one else.
