5. Boy, that will generate public support for libraries
I bet taxpayers will be reaching deep into their pockets to pay extra for this.

9. Free speech is free speech. If the Phelps family can have all the
free speech they want per SCOTUS while performing character assassination on many members of our society, and out outfits like Focus on the Family, Family Research Council and other hate groups, then in my book free speech is free speech, and porn is public libraries is perfectly OK.

10. How fitting a headline for an "adult industry" news source.
Edited on Mon Apr-25-11 11:52 AM by MineralMan
I'd have written it as "Library Demonstrates Support for First Amendment"

I invite everyone to have a look around the site at the OP's link. It's no wonder they mention Porn in their headline.

11. Bill Donohue is duly outraged.
Therefore, there must be something positive in this story.

12. The only objection I can find
is that they need to provide headphones for sound content.

If I'm reading in the next cube/booth/whatever, even if I'm researching about porn, I'd like to be able to do so in silence. Isn't that one of the primary rules in most libraries, being quiet? ;)

14. Why wouldn't accessing legal websites be allowed at libraries with computers?
Seems obvious.

15. They need to move all the computers into private cubicles...
"But The Children(TM) will see and hear the evil, soul-destroying, Christ-denying PORN and be corrupted for life!"

The Children already have porn of their own but that's beside the point, right? We have to protect The Children!

And that's where private cubicles come in. The Children can play Poptropica without annoying the rest of us. Mary can research her embarrassing medical condition without every person in the library being able to look over her shoulder. And John can watch all the porn he wants and The Children will never be the wiser.
