Ron Paul to announce 2012 presidential exploratory committee
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/157639-ron-paul-to-make-important-announcement-tuesday

Texas Rep. Ron Paul (R) will announce he is forming a presidential exploratory committee on Tuesday in Iowa, according to a source close to the congressman.

The two-time presidential candidate is scheduled to make his announcement during a press conference in the state capital of Des Moines at 4:45 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. During the press conference, Paul will also name members of his campaign's Iowa leadership team.

Paul would be the fifth Republican to take that official step toward running for president. An exploratory committee will allow him to begin assembling his campaign infrastructure in anticipation of a formal candidacy announcement.

Paul has appeared poised to enter the race for weeks. He is already scheduled to appear at the first GOP presidential primary debate in South Carolina next week. He also formed a "testing the waters" account earlier this month that allows him to raise funds for a potential campaign.

1. Why am I not surprised?

He may be crazy, but in a very real sense, he's my kind of crazy. Any candidate who can get endorsements from civil rights activists, pro-marijuana publications like High Times, and Stormfront deserves a very close look, even if you can't stand that candidate's politics.

9. I thought they pushed it back to September for that
exact reason.

In 2008 I believe ALL the GOP candidates (including the ones like Duncan Hunter who dropped out eventually) had declared by this time.

5. Paul is crazy but I like him
He is, so far as I know, damn near the only person in Washington who actually DOES what he says he will do. And he believes in LIBERTY and ending these fucking wars.

This, sadly, is something Obama can no longer claim. Obama is of the Bush school: less liberty, more war, more corporate welfare.

11. Yeah, because being racist and sexist is about "liberty"
Rep Paul wouldn't know Liberty if it stood right in front of him.

All you have to do to see what he is all about is to look at his rotten kid. Apple does not fall far from the tree.

14. If you haven't yet, you should check out Dennis Kucinich's policies.
He too opposes the wars and voted against the Patriot Act because in his words "I read it!" When it comes to domestic policy he is much better than Paul. Kucinich is what the democratic party should be. Paul would be very dangerous on the domestic front, he wants to end all regulation of industry, the income tax, and social services.

16. Do you think he's not a RW nutjob?
Wants to abolish Medicare and Social Security, anti-choice, against hate crime legislation, against protecting discrimination against sexual orientation in ENDA, against increasing the minimum wage, supports DADT, against equal pay for men and women, wants to ban gay adoptions, against federal welfare...etc etc.
