Pres. Obama is NOT Jimmy Carter. Not by a long shot. The right-wing media (and now, sadly, the left-wing media) has been trying to turn Obama into Carter ever since his first year in office. Well I'm not biting. Both had dramatically different presidencies and Carter lost a great deal of his support over issues that don't have anything to do with Pres. Obama (cabinet crisis, Iran hostage situation, failed healthcare reform that alienated a lot of liberal Democrats - and forced Ted Kennedy to run against him).

That alone makes this comparison ridiculous.
