1. What is a free country? The US locks up some drug users, is the US a free country?
Japan is being oppressed by a natural disaster, is Japan currently a free country?

I would say "those Western European countries" don't have true free speech, but the term, "free country," seems too vague.

5. US law undeniably restricts free speech
Right now we have the White House condemning the release of real information about Guantanamo prisoners.

you have a problem.

The irony with Germany is, their law continues the Fascist model.

4. Not quite. Fascism and the rule of law don't go together that well.

While I'm not for these laws per se I'm also not against them - they have been handled very well in court and there's not one trial that I know of that wasn't fair and completely deserved.

6. American free speech laws are seen as quaint by most civilized european countries
Hate speech leads to violence, the Holocaust proved that. Fascism has no place in civilized society.

7. these countries suffered from what hitler and the nazis did. while i think it's a little drastic
maybe to have actual laws against it, i do understand WHY they would have them.
