PERRIS, CALIF. — Two weeks after a pair
of experienced skydivers collided and
plunged to their deaths, a similar accident
in southern California has left one skydiver
dead and another in critical condition. The
jumpers' parachutes collided and got
entangled about 200 feet above the
ground Friday, just a day before a
memorial jump to honor the victims of the
previous crash, Perris Valley Skydiving
manager Dan Brodsky-Chenfeld said.

"In both of these situations, it was two very
experienced people on days when there
was hardly any other people in the air," he
said. "And somehow they lost track of each
other and ran into each other. It's
dumbfounding to us."

4. How about they do their tributes from the ground next time...
or at least individually? Geez... I would say horrifically tragic, but that suggests something totally unpreventable. Sad, though, certainly.

5. This happened the day before the memorial.

So, it really wasn't "in tribute" to the first fallen pair, unless they were to be involved the next day.

The story doesn't say anything about that.

7. Picky, picky...so they were rehearsing for the tribute...
Do you have to spoil their heroism with your insistence on dotting the i's and crossing the t's?

10. He is trying to make a connection with a song.
That comments on a hero, and a recent post.

His post has nothing to do with anything in the article, Side note, you sure you got the roles correct, could be other way around couldn't it.

Your not thinking.

Riddle me this...

11. It doesn't even say they were rehearsing for the memorial.
They may have been. Or, they could be two guys completely unrelated to the what was planned for the next day.

I just thought it was odd that you made that assumption.

13. In both cases, did they need to be so close? How big is the sky, again?
I kind of did a double-take reading the article. Why were they so close that their 'chutes tangled up? If you imagine a bounding box which entirely encompasses the parachutist, the 'chute and cords, how hard is it to keep those bounding boxes away from each other?

If these people are that experienced I'd expect they'd be able to steer the shit away from other divers in the same way they keep their distance when jumping in a group and pulling their 'chute in the first place.

Senseless tragedy.
