"The Chicago shoreline is littered with the bones of those who ran against Obama" |
|
Not sure if that's true, but it was a funny quote a friend of mine said. The idea was not that Obama is a murderer or some otherwise violent person, but that you simply can't beat him
He's our Reagan, for better or for worse (and by this I do NOT mean that Reagan was even a tenth as good as Obama as President) He cannot be defeated
The quote itself is a play on an earlier quote about Gov Pete Wilson (R)
"The California Beaches are littered with the bones of those who challenged Pete Wilson"
I'm not sure, but it might have been a Herb Caen quote...

People get mad at Obama, but when he's put in an interview or a side-by-side situation with his opponents, he always comes off looking like the only adult in the room. Sorry if that sounds haughty, but it is what it is.

7. Funny you should mention that... |
|
...just read a Freeper comment that said Trump would own Pres. Obama in a debate.
I can't help it. There's a small part of me that feels sorry for those people. All that inbreeding and lack of education isn't their fault.

9. Yeah, right after Trump gets up on his podium and shouts "YOU'RE FIRED!" |
|
Obama looks at him much like one would look at a man claiming to be the reincarnation of Emperor Nero, and makes his point

The Chicago river is full of the bodies of people who thought it would be a good idea to run against Daley.

Well, that's what I remember littering (and stinking up) the Chicago shoreline.

13. Bad things happen to his opponents sometimes, from both parties. |
|
For instance Obama ran against Alan Keyes for Senate because the republican nominee, Jack Ryan, withdrew due to a sex scandal revealed through release of divorce records. Republican primary opponents and media had been pushing for the release while Obama told Democrats not to make them part of the campaign. That made Ryan mad... feeling Obama was being a hypocrite making that stand while his supporters egged on press about release.
Obama's Dem primary opponent in that race, Blair Hull had a healthy lead until his divorce papers were released, including accusations of death threats and physical abuse. He plummeted in polls and came in 3rd
Both of these guys and ex-wives had agreed to the release of their divorce records btw Oh and both were multimillionaire ex wall street tycoons who did massive spending on campaign
Earlier... when Obama first ran for state senate he knocked 3 opponents out of the race by his staffers finding so many invalid signatures in their voting petition signatures. It was real, it was legal, he was following the rules but it seemed a bare knuckle tactic. (He himself had more than enough valid signatures)
Then in 2008 Hillary hired Mark Penn and McCain was a grumpy, strange acting old man.
So there you have it

14. Challenging petition signatures is basically ... |
|
... standard operating procedure in Chicago. It happens in most local races to nearly all the candidates.
