The Mafia has not gone away. They just moved to different organizations such as......
the republican party, Washington lobby firms, the US Chamber of Commerce, AM talk radio, and mega churches. The new modern day crowd of folks with criminal minds have figured out the legal way to lie, cheat, steal, and kill with total impunity.

1. Yep, crime is legal in many areas today, more money is to be had, and
it's all perfectly legal. And one can buy all the politicians they need to complete the deals and sustain them. People along the way are dispensable. F over all the people along the way you need to, hell, they're only common serfs, they have no voice.

4. snort,
They proclaimed to have rules and ethics, but I never could see it, but modern day lobbyists, etc. make no such claims, and they're just as bad if not worse.

5. You Know - I Had The Same Thought........
the mafia has made transitions in the past from bathtub gin to numbers games to legit business that they could take over and hide under an image - but what a better way to camouflage the organization than to go into government and government supported businesses. I can't wait for the next rendition of the Sopranos.

6. Yup. Naked short selling is a great example. Examples of it in
Matt Taibbi's piece. In the 70's you would actually have to counterfeit stock shares to do something like that. Not a chance you'd get away with it.

7. The Mafia have always been amateurs when compared to Banksters
Smedley Butler wrote about it almost three quarters of a century ago.
