Will Vermont actually get single payer? This Vermonter has doubts
Do I think the legislature (most of them) want to get there? Yeah. and the guv, but we still don't have a waiver and without a waiver it's a no go. And if we get a waiver, I'm concerned by how watered down the legislation will be when enacted. There are powerful forces arrayed against it. Yes, the legislature (and particularly Shap Smith, Speaker of the VT House) and Governor Pete Shumlin deserve a lot of credit for going for it, but cheering is a tad premature.

1. On Rachel's show last night your Gov. said that is the easy part
He expects to get the waiver without any trouble, or at least that was my impression from the interview.

If the legislation is watered down when enacted then it can be made stronger later. Vermont getting something on the books is a huge step forward and worth acknowledging, if not cheering for, even now.
