Cleveland mayor announces 350-400 layoffs
Police patrols cutback, fire stations to close

Posted: 1:59 PM

CLEVELAND - During a meeting Wednesday afternoon, Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson announced there will be hundreds of layoffs throughout the city.

Staffing levels will be reduced by 350 to 400 positions in order to balance the budget for 2011 and 2012, the mayor said. The layoffs will include seasonal employees, part-time employees and permanent full-time employees. The city will notify employees of the layoffs by mid-May.

Snip~ "The city of Cleveland will also reduce the number of police patrols, and the city will no longer be able to increase the number of ambulances available during peak hours, the city said. The current class of the police academy will be allowed to graduate, but they will not be sworn in.

The city said on Wednesday that the state-imposed deficit will also delay waste collection and snow removal. The cuts will also result in reduced street repair and traffic signal repair."

:wow:

...the majority of the voters of Ohio, didn't get what they thought they were voting for, they got played and screwed without even getting a kiss first.

Hopefully the next time around they'll make a better decision then voting for any Republican!

Good luck Ohio, it looks like that's all you've got left!

2. Wow, like it isn't bad enough in Cleveland...
We can thank Kasich for the 25% cut ($16 million) in next year's State money.

Jackson needs to be more vocal about Kasich and the rest of the repukes in office in this state. Need to get those fuckers out of office.

The mayor and city council in a city near me were catching hell from the Teabaggers for putting an income tax in last fall after it was voted down. Now with the Kasich cuts they are back in the hole and the Teabaggers are bitching about taxes agian. Every school district is in trouble now. Senior services is now facing cuts in the meals for shut ins program and they may have to eliminate the senior transportation program, I guess they will have to hitch hike or walk to the doctor now.
