Showing a birth certificate will not stop the root cause of this "issue" |
|
The issue is racism.
A black man is in the White House. With his whole family.
The place of his birth isn't the issue. The color of his skin is. There are a lot of people, a *lot* of people, who can not stand that fact.

shame kept the bigots silent. Seems to me we have reentered the period during that struggle where racism is socially acceptable in public again. I guess that has come by our current march backwards into the 19th century like policies.

3. The reader comments to the on-line articles about the long form release would be funny |
|
if they weren't so tragically racist.
The level of denial is awesome to behold.

The idiots have sunk into the land of the dangerously absurd.
Trump is a narcissist dimwit megalomaniac. Always has been, always will be. He panders to imbeciles.
Birthers will never admit the truth because then they would have to admit that they are turning inside out because a very intelligent man of black heritage is the leader of our country. They cannot stand it.
And the media calling it anything else is just as absurd.

6. I confess--I am still scared of the birthers. I have little faith that Americans will resist |
|
their crazy rantings. We as a society do not have a great track record WRT turning away from racism, xenophobia and other hatred.

16. People this determined to embrace bigotry will go on believing it even if he |

staples the "new" b.c. to his forehead. Still, I'm glad he put it out there, even if I don't think he should have felt in any way obligated to do so.
Go away, crazy birthers...

7. I think there's more to it than that. |
|
I see the crucifixion of Clinton as the same kind of thing. I see sore losers. I see people who are still angry they lost the Civil War. I think it's Republican leaders who know what money is to be made when a Republican is in office, just rolling out the red carpet for all of the corporations and taking in huge lobbying money. They set the tone, and the peons follow. The media fuels their fire. If Steele were running for office, I'll wager no 'Baggers would be asking for his birth certificate.
This whole two party system, and de-evolution of the American spirit/republic/population has turned into a popularity contest. A kind of Survivor with real life consequences. But not too different because the ultimate goal is money. Money at the cost of civil liberties, and judicial integrity, and foreign policy, and fiscal policy.
Surely racism is in the mix. But I think it's being used to support something deeper. When Gore won, and they managed to prybar Bush into the White House, they called us sore losers for bringing up the issue of a stolen election. That is all one needs to know in order to get to the bottom of this. They are like alcoholics who are looking for another drink, even though it's poison to them. Following what their greedy and diseased leaders are telling them is good for them.

of his mother carrying him out of the hospital wearing a Lei, riding a surfboard, and standing in front of Don Ho singing Tiny Bubbles and it wouldn't matter... At least now it's plainly obvious what this is about..

Obama is a much nicer person than I would be in the same position.
It would have been better to allow his opponents to waste their energy on this. People that believe the birther crap would never vote for him anyway. Perhaps I'm wrong but Obama you are a bigger man than I would be in the same position.

20. the fundamental basis; the very core of white racist fear is contained in one and only one thing: |
|
that the "flower" of white womanhood might be "sullied" by procreation with a black man.
racist white folk have an almost visceral hatred for interracial couples. they used to call it miscegenation.
it used to be a crime.
black men could get lynched for that shit in the not very distant past in this country.
that the child of an interracial couple became the president of the US is something white racists cannot abide.
they simply cannot accept it.
how fucked up is that shit?
