CULLMAN, Alabama -- The Cullman County Emergency Management Agency is investigating reports of tornado damage at the Cullman Regional Medical Center, said Cullman County Emergency Management Director Phyllis Little.

"We have not been able to confirm it," she said. The extent of the damage is not known.

A spokeswoman for the medical center said there has not significant damage at the facility, but they are on emergency power.

"We have not moved any patients out, and don't expect to," said Lindsey Dossey, public relations director for the hospital.

7. Part of that is hitting NC now and the local station has gone on alert
so far no reported damage. A funnel cloud spotted in Gso @ airport moving north , one in Eden which is just west of us and the clouds are swirling but it seems to have moved north of us. And I just put up the summer shade gazebo.

4. Looks like only roof damage, whew.

Officials at Cullman Regional Medical Center declared a "code d" -- a disaster -- at the facility, switchboard operator Sharon Barnett told CNN. There were no immediate reports of storm-related injuries at the hospital.
One witness said the damage at the hospital was confined to the roof. "There's no actual building damage, just stuff that fell off the roof," said Summer Frost, who works at a Subway restaurant inside the hospital.
The severe weather also caused a natural gas line to rupture, though the extent of the damage was not immediately known, said Freddie Day of the Cullman Police Department.
