12. It was so unbelievable I had to look it up. And now I have to eat crow.
Carter installed 32 panels. Reagan took them down, then W. installed just 3 panels in 2003. Still, 3 more than there were. Incidentally, Obama's supposed to have a few more installed sometime this year.

Interesting that W installed three panels in 2003. I had no idea about that. Alex may be challenged - no he can't be because he said first president.

16. I was reminded by DU.
But I remember when Carter did it. I thought it was the wave of the future.

Didn't really see the shit known as Reagan coming, but then I was pretty young.

21. I love how, after they answered, Alex Trebec said . . .
that it had to be before Reagan because he took them down. I believe the originals are at the Jimmy Carter Library and at the Smithsonian. For years they were used by Unity College in Maine to heat water for the cafeteria.

I cry every time I think about what Carter might have accomplished for the environment if he had been re-elected.

26. At least two of the original panels are in China
The people running the Solar Science and Technology Museum in Dezhou, China understand the importance, even if our local Republicans don't.

And 20 years from now, Marco Rubio and his ilk will be criticizing the Democrats for "letting China get ahead of us in science."
