Obama signs disaster declaration for Ala to help pay for cleaning up twister devastation
http://www.newser.com/article/d9mt3ido0/obama-signs-disaster-declaration-for-ala-to-help-pay-for-cleaning-up-twister-devastation.html

President Barack Obama has signed a disaster declaration for Alabama to help residents clean up the devastation left by killer tornadoes and flooding.

More than 200 people were killed in Wednesday's twister outbreak and several counties have major destruction.

Thursday's declaration means federal aid will be available to those who seek it.

The counties named in the declaration are Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jefferson, Lawrence, Marshall, Tuscaloosa and Walker.

Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs and low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses. Federal funding also is available to state and eligible local governments.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

4. Make a BIG novelty check
And get a terrific photo op of handing it over to Gov. Bentley. Watch as Bentley looks like he just took a bite out of a shit sandwich.

6. You know, this tragedy actually enabled at least one borderline teabagger to see the light.
I was discussing this with him yesterday afternoon. He was touched by the suffering and was talking about what could be done to help. I reminded him, as gently and politely as I could, that disaster relief is one of the things taxes pay for. His insistence on supporting a movement that believes taxes are a burden will make it even harder to help people in similar circumstances the next time it happens.

I doubt this argument would work with a full-blown nutter, but the fringes of the lunatic fringe have potential when faced with real life examples of how taxes are necessary.

7. Since Alabama is primarily deficit-hating teabaggers (at least the congressional delegation)
I am sure the governor will politely thank the president and decline the aid. Jeff Sessions should declare on the Senate floor that he is grateful, but the people of AL will grab their boot straps and respectfully decline to join the galloping socialism such aid would represent. I think we can all agree that anyone who takes money from the Big Government will soon be required to replace their state flag with this one

and replace George Washington in the history texts with Vlad (the impaler) Lenin.

Now, back in the real world, best of luck to the Alabamans. One use of my tax dollars that I am happy about.

11. Technically speaking the repuke gov should now be voted out
for taking fed funds; according to the tea bag ball licking mentality.
