I am amazed. How does a news story like this one not get any follow up coverage?
4 out of 9 women tested positive over a week ago for small amounts of radioactive iodine in their breast milk and there been no follow up reports that I can find. Does that seem odd to anyone else? Can someone explain this? I mean if they checked more mothers milk and it came back clean you would think this is something that would be important to report. Wouldn't you expect a follow up on this? Something isn't right here. Makes me wonder what other kinds of things are not being reported.

Radiation Detected In Breast Milk Of Four Japanese Mothers

4/21/2011 2:19 PM ET

(RTTNews) - The Naoto Kan government in Japan has come under increasing pressure to launch a full-scale inquiry into the fall-out of Fukushima nuclear disaster on women and children following detection of small amounts of radioactive iodine in the breast milk of four lactating women, reports said on Thursday.

It was in the wake of tests carried out on breast milk samples collected from nine women living north or northeast of the capital, Tokyo, that the matter came to light.

1. Probably because it's not really a surprising finding.
I'm sure cow's milk also has traces of radioactive iodine there, too. Mammals are mammals. I'd be surprised if it wasn't the case.

2. You wouldn't be interested in knowing if the numbers were increasing or decreasing?
Personally I would want some detailed follow ups on this if I were a parent with a child in this situation.

Guess people look at things differently.

3. They're increasing, no doubt.
There's radioactive iodine in the air. Until it is gone, women will have it in their breast milk to some degree. I don't think it's a good thing, but that's what happens.

8. I suspect you are correct
But if I were living in Japan I would be demanding to see the data so I could see how much they have increased. Maybe the population is more laid back about this kind of stuff in Japan? I would be about ready to strangle someone if I lived there and had nursing children.

Sorry about taking so long to respond. I went fishing for a few hours.

4. Because if stories are published showing a danger to the public
that homeland security can't spin or use to their own benefit, they are buried.

Brought you by the good people at the ministry of information.

5. Because if it isn't reported, there isn't a problem to address
there is NO excuse for this, none!

7. Because there is a "Royal Wedding" what could be more important than that?!
We have a media that doesn't care about issues unless it can make them money. Radiated breast milk is not a feel good story. Or the drama isn't the type of drama that they want to support.

It's a messed up world that is for sure.

Peace
