Inspector America: What Are Your Thoughts |
|
There is a new show on the History Channel called Inspector America. I wanted to know what members of DU think about the show if they have seen the show.
I have part of the first episode and the entire second episode. I was not very please with the first episode, I think mainly because I thought the host would travel the country and inform viewers of the state of American infrastructure. In the first episode he did a little of this, but he spent a large amount of time examining the collapse of the roof of the Metro Dome, which is the place where the Minnesota Vikings play. I did not see how the collapse of the roof of the Metro Dome was relevant to the infrastructure of America.
I found the second episode far more interesting and informative. In the second episode the host went to Los Angeles and looked at the roads, bridges and canals of the city. While in the city he pointed out some problems such as old bridges, congested highways, potholes, and problems with some of the flood prevention structures. Along with the problems who show a piece of equipment that ripped up streets and then reset them.
So, has anyone else at DU watched the Inspector America? What are your thoughts on the show? Do you think the show can or should be made better?

The History Channel has shown that many times. It points up the extremely important issue of our crumbling infrastructure. And Trump wants us to worry about a Obama's birth certificate? :wtf:

2. I think that the guy is based here in Minnesota |
|
which is why the first show was Minnesota-centric. He also spent a lot of time talking about dangerous bridges - understandably considering the I-35 collapse in 2007 - and he raises some important issues. Beats the hell out of the plague of aliens, Jebus and Nostradamus fare, IMHO.

3. i have anecdotal evidence that it appeals |
|
to some blue collar guys i know, some of whom are liberal bashers. i gingerly brought up Obama's message about infrastructure commitment when my husband and i were talking about it in front of this one man, and he couldn't/wouldn't join in the conversation. whether that is good or bad, i don't know, but maybe it gets some people thinking. that's why i think it's a good show, fwiw.
