|
Am I the only one who's worried that the Democrats could pass the Senate version Paul Ryan's budget?
Am I the only one who thinks all the Republicans and most of the Democrats holding Federal Offices are corrupt?
If Harry Reid holds a vote, and we're betrayed. It could be over.
Maybe I'm just paranoid.

26. First it presumes everything in the health care law is bad |
|
Secondly you know all about the propaganda campaign launched by the Republicans and the healthcare conglomerates to misrepresent and lie and turn polling against the "government takeover of health care"
Thirdly medicare is a solid long established program that works and people like it. While American Crossroads will try to poison the well on this issue, it is going to be very difficult to do - even teabaggers are against cutting medicare and social security as a means of deficit reduction.

38. Yeah, people like Medicare, but it could use improvement |
|
As I understand it, the govt can't negotiate the price of drugs, they have to accept the price dictated by the pharmaceutical company.
Now, if someone wants to save Medicare money by pursuing cases of fraud, I might be in favor of that. Depending on how badly the government pursues innocent people, old people who don't know better (like me), or immigrants. If you believe the press, there's a lot of straight-up theft going on. Dunno.

14. What would the rusult be, then? |
|
If betrayed equally be Republicans and Democrats, would that really change the dynamic of the election, so long as a progressive party is not in the mix?
Sure, protecting Medicare would be a winner for Dems, but what are Dems going to do if the Dems DON'T protect it - vote Republican?
It would be the logical ending to the DLC's "where are the progressives going to go?" strategy. And the DLCers are just delusional enough to try it.

27. The job of the DLC is to destroy the Democratic Party. This is a perfect chance for that. |
|
Of course, their membership may be too comfy in their elected positions to go along with it, but rest assured. Killing Medicare is the type of thing that the DLC was created to do.

10. The Republicans don't actually care about passing the Ryan scam. |
|
It is just their part to play in the theater to frame Catfood as moderate, serious, pragmatic, and a compromise.
Ryan should be scoffed at as plain old goofy nonsense with continued fire against the Catfood/Gang of Six happy horse shit.
Ryan is a goal, not a serious intent at this time. What we really need is an equally ideological liberal proposal to frame the People's Budget correctly and make it the firewall.

...alternative? The Peoples Budget http://cpc.grijalva.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=70 http://grijalva.house.gov/uploads/The%20CPC%20FY2012%20 ... This needs to be pushed as the path to the 2012 elections and future of America. Not perfect, but such a striking contrast with the Ryan disaster will be easy to explain to the public. Here's Rachel's coverage last week... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/ns/msnbc_tv-rachel ... / Here's the Progressive Caucus website.... http://cpc.grijalva.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=70

We are talking a very moderate, workable, and more effective in reducing the deficit (the falsely stated goal) than anything else out there.
What is it about "Pragmatist" that they don't give a flying fuck if a proposal is workable or beneficial?

17. Yep. I agree. This is a stalking horse to pull the |
|
debate about all this shit to the right where, as you said, the catfood commission looks like the "middle ground". Since the People's Budget isn't even being DISCUSSED in Congress, there's no REAL left alternative. Although as far as I'm concerned the People's Budget is only moderate, not really left.
For YEARS, the RW has been framing their radical positions as "moderate". It's just more of that bullshit.

They won't pass the Ryan budget. It doesn't make political sense. It truly is a defining piece of legislation for how each party views the role of government. To pass it would be to fundamentally change the philosophy of the Democratic Party.
Now do I think many (maybe even most) Democrats in federal office are corrupt? Yes. To think otherwise is entirely naive. Almost all of them become lobbyists eventually.

It won't pass the Senate, but even if it did, it wouldn't mean much.
Privatizing Medicare and making all those changes to the tax code would require separate authorizing legislation ect. that would never pass in a 60 vote environment.
