PLEASE, we need volunteers and we need MONEY to have attorneys with election experience at these locations. Third day in a row for there to be problems with ballot bags in Waukesha County.

edited to add that the Prosser team had not only their shipped-in attorney (brother of the lead attorney on the Prosser team), but a suit (presumably attorney) from Americans for Prosperity at the Dane County recount. Why would Am for Prosperity be at the recount? Election integrity suddenly their hot new issue? :mad:

I'm presuming they are. Do you know what their level of concern is and if they have any plans to address those things? I thought they'd hired the lawyer who represented Al Franken(?)

and I just got off the phone with them. That's the first thing she said - they need money!

The objections are entered through the recount process, and then the litigation begins! But it's difficult for the few volunteers we have to keep up with everything that is going on, know to file an objection, and not to be intimidated by the high-dollar attorney in the expensive suit who is telling the election officials that it's a non-issue. We need attorneys with election experience at these locations.

My friend, who is also the attorney I work for, has been volunteering at one of the recount locations every minute it's been going, so far. Sometimes he's the only one there. We need volunteers, we need money, we need attorneys!

I've received email from them asking for donations for Kloppenburg and the recount. Maybe they can help mobilize volunteers and lawyers.

on edit - I sent them an email, but I doubt that it will get to the right people on time. Someone from Kloppenburg's campaign might have better chances getting immediate help. I would think they could do a lot to help raise funds for her and get more volunteers on the ground.

My friend, whom I referenced above, is volunteering in Winnebago Co, which is very red. Most of the attorneys he knows there are conservatives.

I gave money to JoAnn and was in email contact with her campaign manager pre election. Now we have this very important recount going on. Posters here who are on the ground in WI are pleading for $$$ so we can AT LEAST HAVE A FUCKING ATTORNEY THERE!!!??? What's our $25 and $50's against Koch Bros $$$... Does not the national Dems have everything riding on these local races??? WTF!!! And don't get me started on what our MA reps are doing to unions there... They also need to wake the fuck up and listen to the Firemen who are pissed off nationally. A little rambling by me folks, and I am sorry but...

My partner, an attorney who has been working at the Winnebago recount the entire time, received a call from JoAnne Kloppenburg yesterday. They chatted for several minutes. She thanked him for his work, and he had the opportunity to talk with her about the concerns regarding Waukesha (and other places).

Please, please volunteer your time for the recounts. If you email or call to say that you want to volunteer, and if you don't hear anything back, call again, or let me know, and I will get through and get you set up with an assignment. If nothing else, just show up at a recount site, and offer your assistance to the Kloppenburg representative working there.

But if everyone on DU who can possibly afford it will give some money, that will truly help. We don't need to match the dollars from the other side (that's impossible), we just need to be able to pay the expert attorneys we have retained.

OK, I'm probably just rambling because I'm not quite awake yet.
