Which of these hats was not worn at the royal wedding today?
Edited on Fri Apr-29-11 07:50 PM by Stinky The Clown

Every one of these were worn in the good ol' USofA, at Churchill Downs, for the All-American event, the Kentucky Derby. So much going on and on all day today about the "silly hats" worn to the royal wedding. Well, if one wants silly hats, one need go no further than right here in the good old US.

2. You are absolutely right!
I thought the bride was lovely, loved her dress. It was traditional, flattering to her, and appropriate. She was absolutely the most beautiful person there, and deserved the limelight. Some of the other guests looked to be trying too hard to be "chic" or "different" without being attractive. There were a few guests who did look lovely and appropriate.

3. Number 4, I actually like
My question is how the hell these women get in and out of cars in those things... I saw the Bride's mother do so with a tiny bit of difficulty, but gracefully, nonetheless. But she didn't have one of the extraordinarily large (or tall) hats.

6. It's a silly, fun tradition and I love it. My grandma was a Southern belle who made certain her hats
would be talked about (and they were always goofily gorgeous).

8. We have some hat boxes we bought at auctiona while back
We use two of them, stacked, as an end table by the sofa in our bedroom. The bottom box is as big as an oil drum (only slight exaggeration!). I can only *imagine* the hat it once contained!

Ha!

14. Outside of five, they're acceptable.
Those weren't the fugly hats that were so outrageous for a Royal Wedding I had to make them a topic of a thread.

Nothing wrong with a little theater.

20. My very first thought this morning was "WHA???? WHAT?????"
and then very shortly after that I thought....very cool, VERY VERY fun (wish I had the courage to show up at such a VERY PUBLIC affair with such abandon...which will quickly be considered "fashion forward" in certain circles.

Money.

The only thing that seperates 'fashion forward' from 'people of walmart'....ALL have the SAME sense of fun, creativity and abadonment, no?

Just b/c I "made it myself" doesn't make it less worthy than some 'high-profile' designer (who has most highly likely struggled) who made it for me?

The only ppl who haven't struggled, are nameless/shameless individuals who hide in the shadows'prince/pauper" thing.

Best wishes to the newlyweds! TRULY! :toast: :-)

The women there could beat this hands down.

32. American Bluebloods can be just as tasteless.
After all, they are deliberately imitating British nobility at Churchill Downs. but you already knew that.
