Rick Perry grovels for help
This just in - Texas Gov Rick Perry calling for Federal assistance due to storm damaged. When reminded about his call for secession, Perry said he was misquoted - he loved the feds so much he was asking for a suck session

1. Its hard not to give Texas help because
there are real people who need help, but on the other hand maybe Perry should have to get a minimum wage job to pay for all the damage.

20. they also brought us Ann Richards, Molly Ivins, and Lyndon Johnson.
Texas isn't all bad. The good people of Texas should not have to suffer because of their governor's actions.

23. Gee,thanks!
That's just the support Democrats in Red States need!

Luckily, the Democrats I know did OK through the storms. We are all teachers or nurses,so we have jobs.

I could never turn my back on my fellow man. It is against everything THIS Democrat believes in.

21. Perry should just resign
the idiot has been governor of TX since * left to become President.. over ten years now. Does Texas not have term limits? I feel sorry for the decent, progressive citizens of TX who have to put up with this bozo.

9. I wonder what would happen.....
if the Communist Party USA (http://www.cpusa.org/) or the Socialist Workers Party (http://socialistparty-usa.org/) showed up to organize and help with the relief efforts. I'll bet there are people who would run them off from their pile of rubble.

I am not laughing at the dead and destruction...but the irony of the folks who say keep government out of my life...till my life is destroyed..then ..please government...help me!

22. What's with the insensitivity in this thread?
You'd think liberals would have more compassion for their fellow men/women, no matter where they are from.

7. Article w/video: "Rick Perry, secessionist, turns to socialism"...
Oh the irony. Not so long ago Governor and Presidential hopeful Rick Perry was all ready for Texas to secede from the Union because of the Obama's out of control spending.

(...)

"Why is the federal government even in the pension program or the health care delivery program?" Perry asked. "Let the states do it."

After the wildfires...

"Texas is reaching its capacity to respond to these emergencies and is in need of federal assistance," Perry said in a statement on Monday.

"I urge President (Barack) Obama to approve our request quickly so Texans can continue receiving the resources and support they need as wildfires remain an ongoing threat."

24. We can certainly help Texas, but let's do it the way Republican governors help cities.

Let's see now...in one state a Republican governor can appoint a manager.
The manager can ignore, remove, do what he likes, with the city elected officials.

What a wonderful idea...we will help Texas! But, only if we can appoint a manager.
We need to remove state officials because, clearly, they failed, in their job, running Texas.

Republicans want money, with no strings attached...
but would a Republican governor help a city, with no strings attached? I think not.

Yes, I'm being cynical. But it's not fair. I guess life isn't supposed to be fair.
