U.S. women surpass men in advanced degrees
WASHINGTON (AP) -- For the first time, American women have passed men in gaining advanced college degrees as well as bachelor's degrees, part of a trend that is helping redefine who goes off to work and who stays home with the kids.

Census figures released Tuesday highlight the latest education milestone for women, who began to exceed men in college enrollment in the early 1980s. The findings come amid record shares of women in the workplace and a steady decline in stay-at-home mothers.

The educational gains for women are giving them greater access to a wider range of jobs, contributing to a shift of traditional gender roles at home and work. Based on one demographer's estimate, the number of stay-at-home dads who are the primary caregivers for their children reached nearly 2 million last year, or one in 15 fathers. The official census tally was 154,000, based on a narrower definition that excludes those working part-time or looking for jobs.

1. So, are we now going to end the affirmative action programs
That favor women over men in grad school admissions?

4. I don't doubt that women still make less than men in the professional world,
However this is addressing parity in the academic world. If more women are receiving advanced degrees than men, then it is obvious that we have reached parity in the academic world. Therefore there is no need for AA in regards to grad school admission is there? Continuing AA in grad school admission would simply mean that there are more and more women, with advanced degrees who are getting paid less than men. It would do nothing to bring about addressing wage parity.

5. Yes, when women still make less than men with advanced degrees,
since favoring women getting advanced degrees via affirmative action has nothing to do with their earnings. How do you see the two as related?

2. K/R and I went over to see what the morans are saying about the same topic...
Cuz they're just such a trainwreck you KNOW it's going to be childish and ignorant. Scratch "childish", children are much better than this.

Yeah but MS/PhD degrees in Poetry, Makeup or Child Caring aren’t all that rigorous. /ducking

A Masters in Mall Shopping isn’t worth anything these days (ducks)

I recall when stay at home fathers first gained visibilty, probably over ten years ago. Feminists went berserrk, calling them "parasites who feed off women."

All this education and they still can’t be taught to leave the toilet seat up.
