My cancer update

Hello friends, a fair number of you have asked in my posts how I was doing, sorry I never responded
but I had no good news to report and I still don't.

Bottom line my local medical complex/hospital is killing me is how I feel. I went to "HM" January 2nd
with a small lump below and behind my right ear, within 10 days we knew it was cancerous and to this
day I have received no chemo or radiation treatment from them. It was an enlarged nymph node and is
is growing around the jugular vein. Everything with HM is scheduled 2 weeks away, test for ABC 2 weeks
away, appointment with doctor to talk about ABC test results 2 weeks away.etc, etc

So HM declares "we have no surgeon willing to do your surgery". They set me up an appointment with
KU cancer center in Kansas City, drive 4 hours to get there just to find out again "we have no surgeon
willing to do your surgery". Wait another 2 weeks to meet my 3rd chemo doctor in 5 months at HM.
"We got you an appointment with UCH in Denver with a ENT surgeon"

Yesterday drove 5 hours to UCH in Denver, the surgeon has preformed the type of surgery I need
several times successfully but mine is the worst he's ever seen. If he did surgery today because it's
grown so large I'd lose most of the right side of my neck and some of my face. Plus it's starting to
grow into my vocal cords and if it has, they'll remove them also and leave me with a hole in my lower
neck to breath. If I had found this surgeon in January I'd be in great shape today.

So the UCH Doctor's game plan is send me back to HM and have them start me on some
autoimmune therapy to see if we can reduce the size of this tumor to where he feels comfortable
doing surgery, I'd sure hate to lose my vocal cords or to breath through a hole.

Called HM first thing this morning an informed them what Denver wants done right away, 2 new tests
and autoimmune therapy started. Last time I called HM cancer center they took 2 days to call me back,
if I don't hear back from them today I'll be sitting in their office when they open at 8:00.

$4,000 for a front end alignment

2002 Ford Explorer Sport with 125,000 miles. Steering was pulling to the left just a little, would only
notice it at highway speeds so I took it to an alignment shop. Believe my mistake was telling them,
"sure whatever it needs".

It's my understanding when it comes to ball joints the only one that ever wears out is the one in the
A-arm that the spring is pushing against. But the shop said "NO, both ball joints always wear out on
Explorers".

Then on to the alignment machine, "We can't align because the left rear leaf spring is weak and we'll
need to replace that also". I reluctantly agreed and they knew I wasn't a happy camper. So then they
get 2 new rear springs and inform me "You always have to replace springs in pairs". We never did
in my father's automotive repair shop.

Then it was all new "U" bolts and shackles because "They're rusty and we couldn't get the nuts off"
Mechanics run into rusty nuts and bolts on a daily basis and should know how to work them
loose or drill them out. I even offered to drill them out for them but they wouldn't allow that.

So this morning it's finally supposed to be finished and I can pick it up. When they called yesterday
he said "I haven't totaled your bill yet but it's around $4,000. They had it over 2 weeks.

So my friends my question is did both ball joints (4 total) and both rear springs need replacing?
I don't think so.

Bill was $3750.31, their markup on all the stuff they bought from rock auto was astronomical. My brother
said depending on the part, his body shop used a 25 to 35% markup. Rock auto doesn't suggest a list price
so these guys go with a 100 to 150% markup, each spring cost me $512.50. And when asking about the
markup I got a raised voice and a dirty look with "the shipping on all that stuff was outrageous !!!!!"
When his voice got one octave lower than shouting, wrote a check and left.

My cancer is back

5 weeks ago I went to the doctor because of a lump growing on the right side of my chin. Had a
CT scan of my head and found a enlarged lymph node in that area, they did a scraping on it and
said it was cancerous.

Then, since I had vocal cord cancer 3 years ago they did a complete CT body scan and said the
mass growing on my chin and neck is a cancerous tumor plus they believe cancer is back on my
vocal cords. Surgery Monday to take a scraping from vocal cords, seems like overkill, why can't
they just run a camera down there and look like they've been doing since my radiation treatments?
Or am I missing something?

Meanwhile that lump keeps growing and has spread to my entire chin left to right and is starting
up the right side of my face enclosing my ear shutting down my hearing. On my third prescription
to reduce this mass and nothing is helping so far. Doctor appointments every day next week.

Because of everything going on with my health I've decided I better get all my affairs in order and
finish some projects. So I'll no longer be doing the daily toons but I'll help anyone who wants to
take up that task. Best for a retired person with no full time job, just send me an email, always
