I remember similar enthusiasm with Obama, but maybe some have forgotten due to the constant obstruction, hate speech,

birtherism, and racism that incessantly tried to drive us down us during his candidacy and presidency. Obama was a low-key, thoughtful, brilliant speaker, and true progressive, who was the perfect antidote for the George W. Bush years. Kamala Harris is energetic, sharp, and exactly what we all need at this moment in time. Biden helped get us back on track after the disaster of Tump's term, and Harris will take us into the future beyond the nightmare of Trump and his cult of racist, misogynistic, theocratic, fascists.

..."a clear sign the Trump campaign hasn't yet hammered out a workable strategy for Harris" No, they had a viable

strategy, but Trump didn't follow it. He left the reservation almost immediately once the interview questions started because they were asking uncomfortable questions. He doesn't have the presence of mind anymore to handle hard questions, so he launched into his standard shoot from the hip racial and gender attacks. He is not manageable, and cannot follow directions or advice. He is severely impacted by dementia, adding to the deterioration of his already fact-challenged brain.

Teachers are our best underpaid, under-recognized asset. But look at this! When pressured by The Law to harm

their students, they rebel and refuse to obey MAGAt commands to fail the children placed in their care.

I know a lot of people on DU have stated they hate all Republicans and would never give them credit for anything. But I

have always held out hope, against the odds, that fellow Americans who happened to be Republicans will recognize the danger Trump poses stop the Republic, and look for ways to prevent Trump from taking office a second time. I am heartened by this movement, and hope it is a sign that we can come together to save the country.

No, Neil, Americans are getting whacked by rulings by corrupt Supreme Court Justices like you.

Why would a judge complain about "too many laws?" Their job is to rule on the applicability of law to a particular case, or the constitutionality of a law. Their job does not include judgment on the number of laws. Gorsuch is a prefect example of why we need to remind SCOTUS of what their job is, what their job is not, and what constituter a breach of ethics.

The problem with GOP DEI attacks on Harris is that it exposes how utterly hollow and meaningless the charge is.

Harris has performed with distinction as an attorney, district attorney, attorney general and Vice President of the United States. The GOP can provide not a shred of evidence that anything but her record and education were involved in here choice for each position. The upside is that it will call into question every example of their anti-DEI obsession

Politics makes it very difficult to turn down the tap. Rising gas prices affect every American directly, and the right

will always use this as a way to get votes. If the right takes the presidency again, alternative energy momentum will take a serious hit. Until we have a majority in both houses of Congress, it will be very difficult to solve this dilemma. However, Biden's actions to support alternative energy production and more energy-efficient buildings, vehicles, etc will at some point reach a threshold at which sustainable energy will be cheaper and more readily available than those sustained by fossil fuel production.

A brilliant political ad. And an uncanny resemblance to our current situation. Change a few names and slightly change

there actual issues at stake and it fits perfectly into the present moment. So 1950s and 60s to pull out a cigarette to heighten the sense of anxiety and serious reflection. Brilliant propaganda. I remember that election (I was 11 years old), and my parents were worried that Goldwater might be serious about launching a nuclear war. They later became rabid conservatives thanks to their anxiety about 60s race riots and assassinations, and then Fox News totally brainwashed them.

Trump already had a problem with women, but Vance is exacerbating that ten-fold.

Vance looked good as a young masculine VP to shore up Trump's candidacy, but I agree with the OP that now he is the proverbial albatross around Trump's neck. Hillbilly elegy, indeed.

The Republican stereotype that liberals are violent dates back to the SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) in the 60s

Since then, it has been the right that has grown increasingly violent in rhetoric and action. They refer to non-existent "violent subversive socialists" as a smokescreen to distract from violent rightists who range from white supremacists, militia groups, anti-immigrant groups, as well as anti-abortion groups who have set off bombs in women's health care clinics. When was the last time a liberal (not a libertarian) committed a violent political public act? The last time a mob of hundreds of violent right wingers committed a treasonous act, was on January 6th.
