(53,934 posts)But we have a deep bench of candidates for 2020.
I say he's welcome to throw his hat in the ring though.

(115,924 posts)We need someone who actually has extensive experience in government and will understand at a Ph.D. level how to fix the mess Trump will leave behind. Avenatti isn't that person.

How do I know that? THEY TOLD ME SO.
And many analyses of the 2016 "election" show the biggest predictor of a Trump voter was racism and/or sexism.

(7,725 posts)The Avenatti /Trump Show is getting old imho. I'd like my life and my tv back. It's trump tv 24 hours a day, and it does'nt matter what news station you watch. ALL DAY LONG...trum trum trum...GD enough already.
As if NOTHING at all is going on that's newsworthy, but for the daily d trum update? I didn't sign up for dt to remove 4 years of my life in dedication to all things about him, and his rancid family.

The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,924 posts)Joe Biden, Amy Klobuchar, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, Adam Schiff, Mitch Landrieu, Steve Bullock, Jeff Merkley, to name a few. Who should be the nominee, and why, is up for plenty of debate. But we have a deep bench - deep enough that we don't need to look to a media-star trial lawyer with no experience in government.

(983 posts)I never trusted this dude from the start. What happened to his bold "Trump won't last his term" predictions? Now he claims Trump will probably win again. I saw this coming months ago, and thus unfollowed him.
Average lawyer. Excellent publicity hound.
Oh and there will be a decent challenger.

(1,020 posts)academic and trail career per bios here and there. I honestly think he is the type of personality we need to combat Trump. It certainly is not the election to promote a "boring" politician, should Trump manage to get to 2020.

(53,934 posts)He won't be polite to the orange pustule, something we sorely need.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,924 posts)being able to govern effectively. Trump was an effective campaigner, in a nasty, twisted way that appealed only to nasty, twisted people (which there are a lot of, unfortunately), but with the help of the Russians it was just enough. As we have seen, however, he can't govern worth shit; all he does is tear everything down. You can say we need a good campaigner in order to win, which is true, but it's like the dog who chases cars and finally catches one: Now what? I can't support a candidate who lacks the knowledge and experience to govern well while holding the world's most difficult job. Campaigning is just marketing and salesmanship and it isn't enough.

I'm not touting him for pres. as we've got several strong candidates this time for a change, but he's welcome to throw his hat in the ring like anyone else.
What irritates me is why do we need repugs when we've got alleged Democrats attacking another Democrat without any proof.

(53,934 posts)The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,924 posts)is not "attacking" them. There are many Democrats; only a few will be viable candidates. If I say Oprah shouldn't run for president because she doesn't have the right experience (and I did say that), I'm not attacking her. Same goes for Avenatti. He's a trial lawyer/media figure who has never held public office. He, like Oprah, is not qualified to be president. That's my opinion and it's not an attack (I was also a trial lawyer; I'm also a Democrat, and I'm not qualified to be president either).

(53,934 posts)Maybe it's residual from the primary but I for one am tired of Dems going after each other.
There are tons of reps and senators in office who were attorneys before running and winning office. Don't sell yourself short.
Avenatti certainly isn't. He's smart, confident, has media savvy, not bad to look at and has a high public profile. Not that bad a starting point when you think about it.
I prefer Harris or Kennedy or Shiff myself but I'll stay positive on Avenatti. He's on our side. That's one thing we should learn from repugs. They rarely attack each othertrump being the exception of course.

(22,188 posts)PIG or this poor example of a narcissistic human being (rump).
Of all of the people that our repug brothers and sisters had to pick to run, they had to pick rump? I laugh.
How pathetic. Especially when you have examples like Rev. Graham, or rep. Cotton, or rep. Lee, or lots of other rabid republicans, you had to pick rump of all people to represent you, a so called billionaire? This alone strains one's credibility when you really think about it, and actually kind of validates senate conclusions that yes, elections were tampered with. Who in their right mind would pick a person like rump to be president? Especially now after we've seen what's he's actually like, a petulant and spoiled brat?
I am thinking that these people needs glasses and hearing aids...lots and lots of them. Unfortunately they haven't made enough of them to help.
AVENATTI is a very good example of who to pick for a candidate. To me, he's the silver of a silver plated fork. He's the flame of a lit candle. He's the berry of my favorite jam. He's the diamond in my favorite piece of jewel, etc. You get the point.
I kind of doubt he'll run though...too much hassle and effort and perhaps just a tad wishful thinking on our part?

(870 posts)one then may consider he moved to make curtain calls upon the Presidents man, and exposed much about the President, with even more to come in the exposure of those who stand with the President and those who stand guard around him.
I would say, it is far from having been to this date, a side show.

(870 posts)We have to regard the representation he gave Stormy, and in doing so.. Trump went into panic and Cohen is now facing more than he ever imagined.
Those who claim he is just seeking attention, may well need to give credit to what he has achieved. He has shown the public a regard for the downtrodden and stood against the abuse of malice, to hide the truths that we now know to be true.
IF of nothing else, many who stand in the frame and claim of Democracy as Democrats, must be thankful for what he has done and the results that have come forth.
Where he goes from here and what he does with the voice he presents.... we don't know.... but we can respect what he has shown up to this day and time.
When the power of the Presidency and that which stand behind the President fighting him like a wild beast, he did not waver nor fall back, he pursue facts an stood with them.
