Is there polling on percentage of Republicans turned Independents due to Trump?

Polls keep showing relatively low support for Trump among Independents and extremely high support for Trump among Republicans. What is left unstated is to what extent that is due to the melting away of once Republicans from the Republican Party because of Trump.

I would love to see research that shows whether or not voter identification with the Republican Party has shrunken since Trump has been in office, and if so how much.

Seems like a way to avoid talking about their vote. And they are still repub. If they are so shocked about the right and dt, why not be a Democrat if they're going to switch? They never ever take responsibility for anything.

actually my whole community, before each election. I know a number of people who say they are independents. I know that the majority of them have never voted for a repubbie.

In person, IRL, I advocate the same left wing positions I advocate here on DU, but I am very nice and very approachable. I've never gotten in a shouting match or anything even close to that. Even with this, the Trump voters I know just don't want to talk about politics anymore.

A lot of people want out.

If you did not vote in 2014,you will not be included in any polling. Worse yet,if you did not vote in 2016,you will not be included in any Polls. We know the turn out sucked in 14' and again in 16' and as a result, the data base is skewed towards the GOP. Remember it is the Registered Voter who voted not the Registered Voter. Polling Companies love this model because it tends to produce the desired results that someone paid for.

So Trump's numbers for the Positive should be in the low twenties, which would make sense, remember the GOP hard core right is about 22% of their party. But the Media loves the Narrative, sells Soap and Pills.

Also most polls for approval ratings are based on likely voters or registered voters, not all eligible voters.

I know evangelical churches are bleeding parishioners since Trump. If that is happening the GOP has got be hemorrhaging supporters as well.

I've not seen any evidence for the claims that people are leaving the Republican Party in droves.

Happy Adjusters are desperate for anything of this type. Somehow this theme became prominent around here a few weeks ago and now has become conventional wisdom. Apparently people don't want to believe that Trump is extremely popular among Republicans so the deflection is to pretend that there are fewer Republicans. Meanwhile, if he is giving them extremely conservative Supreme Court nominees, why wouldn't they be thrilled with him? We may not understand their priorities but they aren't exactly secret.

Your link is great because all it takes is a simple scroll to go back several years and see how steady the numbers are. Minor fluctuations around the same basic range.
